Classic Joke:
Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do THIS! Doctor: Well, don't do that!
Clash of Clans version:
Player: It hurts when I play in Legend League. Logic: Well, don't do that!
My guess is.. The great earnings from the top was in large part from making the "new level to something again and again update" each month.. And even supercell could see now that they could not keep doing this as people is getting feed up with this, and the frequent updates also made it more and more imposible for new players to ever catch up and be top players them selves (meaning that top base that will pay, also becomes less and less as top players quit).
So instead of a solution that made the game more fun, and eventually would make many people also WANT to pay some money.. (A good long term solution).. Supercell aparently whent for making the game harder and more troublesome UNLESS you buy gems..
So we got a "good" short term solution, that will propably make a lot of people now buy gems out of frustration.. And make people that don't want to buy gems quit.
In long term, naturally this will hurt the game, but aparently that is then the calculated risk that was made for making the profit now.. Sad for those buying gems now actually, as they might end just being kings of a dying game :-/
I personally do not understand why it is so difficult to understand the impact of the new loot system by SC.
The issues are simply two
1) Availability of the loot
Without the loot bonus (that could give a big loot from inactive players i.e. collectors) you need to focus on storages. At the same level the system works because your troop are able theoretically to wipe a same level TH. But at lower level? No at all. So a TH8 attacking a TH9 cannot get all the storages and this means at least 50% loot less (with an increased cost for troops)
2) Lower level protection.
Before the update a TH9/10 attacking a TH8 the cap was 198K with the reduction given by the penalty, therefore a TH9 attacking a TH8 to make an example (I am speaking only about storage) could get 180K. Interesting but not so much.
Now a TH9 attacking a TH8 can get 280K. Do not you see the difference?
So the declared goal was to help users to save more resources.
I am a TH8: how can I save more resources if
1) I get less loot from defenders
2) I provide more loot to attackers
I would appreciate an answer not based on stats but on math.
Thank you for taking the time to get back to me, it means a lotOk, since you haven't changed anything, maybe other/some/many TH8s have changed something. The question in my mind is why you, why not the previous or next TH8. (Remember, total amount of higher to lower TH attacks are is same, and I assume that all TH8s are saving resources just like you). If you see this, can you tell me are you an early, mid or late TH8? I'm trying to find a pattern here, if there's one to be found. If this would be a question of early TH8s, I think that'd be a matter of balancing for us.
Tell me about it, the new looting system pure suck, i have played this game for a year now and contantly had builders busy, i am currently thinking about deleting the game now as i spend more than 200k looking for a fight, then i find one worth 150k, this means that i am losing money now, yet people take 350k+ off me, thx supercell for keeping me entertained for a full year but the new looting system has changed my views on the game, i found better matches on the old loot system, i thought this was an improvement but defo aint, i just hope alot more people agree and hope supercell listens, this game is nothing without the players so how about listening to people instead of u thinking u know best, LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS
This player likely keeps large amounts in storages because he is saving up for an upgrade. Most bases are worthless to attack now, because the low % from storages yields very low loot if the defender has little in storage.
Therefore, those that play the game and "save up" have targets on their back due to actually having loot available.
I am a maxed TH8 (missing only walls) with outside TH, I have been not attacked (for storage) in 1 month. After the update 3 times, wiped out all the times. At the moment after 1 week of playing I barely have the same resources.
So it is not a problem of early TH8.
Marika it is simple why they attack more: before the update 200k, after the update 270K
I would do the same
I am a late TH8, only need 2 more Tesla"'s to lvl 6. Not easy to save up for them.. I am getting hammered by higher townhalls.

I am an early TH7 11 days in. Before the update I had full storages saved up for the new upgrades when my TH completed.
On the night my TH upgraded I had FULL storages (2 mill in each) I lost 188k in a raid of each resource from a TH8 (pre game update).
Post game update, I spent some resources, and am trying to maintain 600k gold & 1mill eilxir in my storages for the ongoing upgrades to my base. I am regularly losing 224k elixir despite having less in my storage than 5 days earlier pre upgrade. My gold loss amounts to 111k from a store of @600k (that raid took place over night)
No matter what you say, I am holding less loot but losing more ?? I cannot recoup the loot i'm losing 1) it isn't there at the moment 2) last raid it took 31 presses of the next button to find a base with over 75K gold 3) I can't play for an extended period of time.
For me nothing has changed. I upgrade my town hall, I do a few raids a night 3 or 4 and others when I have a spare half hr. What has changed is the fact I am now struggling to maintain what I am holding for my base upgrades.
I am a little disappointed that the gameplay for my level at least has changed so much. I would call myself a casual adult player, I cannot sit for hrs on end on my tablet/phone remaining online. I appreciate that raiding/getting raided is a part of the game - but in my opinion these changes are for the worse not the better.
