    Red face "It's JUST a Game!"...2019...

We've not been recruiting recently, however, we're currently looking to add some chilled and self-sufficient players since we have recently lost a couple, unfortunately, to other games and real life...pls see below for the type of group we are

We're not a "family", not "chatty" and you probably won't "make new friends"... (tho we appear to have!
) we're just a bunch of people that play the game and enjoy the benefits of being in a hood. Play the derby* if you want, or don't. Tasks at max points x 10? Aint nobody got time fo' that. Do whatever tasks you can to help us get to 7/8 columns, since we mostly care about columns. We're not going to insist you only do tasks whose point value are Fibonacci numbers divided by three, no tasks with an "M" in the title on Thursdays, or any other shopping list of arbitrary demands, just show some common sense and don't take the michael!

Obviously with this play-style you're probably self-sufficient but if you need occasional help then someone will probably have what you need, if you need bushes done someone will probably do them, if you play town someone will probably have townies for you to pick up, and all we ask in return is that you do the same.

So log in, take bacon from a pig without somehow killing it in the process, grill tomatoes for a whole hour without somehow burning them to a crisp, take an hour and a half to make an egg sandwich, wonder what the hell woolly chaps even are, then log out again...because...

If any of the above resonates with you, why not come and join up with people that play just like you do!

Some basic info - range of levels within the group: levels 46 upto 196. Hood Name and Tag: Stinky and The Brain/#890LVULJ.

Additionally - we are especially looking for level 90+ self-sufficient, town players. We are town and events focused in this hood, not derby. If this is you, please send a message

...pls also see below for some hood guidelines...cheers

*Derby – We aim for a relaxed derby - we play for columns and ask for 300+/7-8 columns. Or opt out pls, if time and commitments are a factor.

*We politely require that Birdhouse is crops only (for those that want the achievement)

    * We try and help each other as and when we can but if you need to flag for help, pls also advertise.

    * RSS is 3/4 crates at any one time of purchase pls, (unless it's an announced "no crate limits" sale). Gives the other hoodies, especially those in different time zones, a chance to buy as well. If items still remain next day, it's yours. (Can sell as much as you like directly and trading isn't a problem)

    cheers,

    Udders.

    Question

    Casual Derby Hood...Wossat, Then?

...A casual hood is one where there’s a LOT of flexibility with play-styles. We have our core group that are daily players and then we have the ones that play as and when they can, secure in the knowledge that no one is standing guard at the NH gates with a clocking-in card in hand.
A casual hood is also a hood that can sometimes be chatty, and sometimes not. Depends who is around, how much time they have, if they’re in the mood, or not...Least, that’s how we operate

We still manage peculiar conversations from time to time tho. the most recent being the subject of a hoodie’s memory-foam undercrackers
(dodged THIS particular bullet by playing dumb, I can tell ya!)…(yes, I purposefully avoided using the word “member” there. *shudders*. Since I’m not looking to pay for your therapy by making terrible puns)…same dude freely admitted to not washing from one year, to the next…must be an American thing…

(Lord help me if he sees this lol)

So yeah, we have our moments, and I dunno if it comes across but we aren’t strangers huddling together in the same space cos we’re anti-social. We are a team. A freakin' strong one! We may be casual but we have some really hardworking team orientated players…and we may not play for cups but, we have players that used to be in those sorta hoods and just got tired of it and so changed their pace, but not their skills. Ergo, we’re casual, not lazy.

To my mind, this is our greatest strength. Casual yet, room for hard-core as well as more relaxed play styles…no judgemental attitudes checking out what their team-mates are doing. No judgement, period. Do what you can. When you can. Don’t stress. Help the team get to 7/8 columns and stop, if you want to. Have fun with it. It’s just a game!

So, when we lose members because they have decided to slow down with HD cos of dissatisfaction with updates etc…it’s kinda sad

still, there’s gotta be more players like us out there, surely? Self-sufficient, considerate, team players, sane, relaxed (tho not so relaxed they don’t wash) etc…any of you out there? Come and find us, if you are

This piece became more reflective, I think, than a recruitment spiel? lol…but, maybe that’s no bad thing…it shows you who we are…hopefully there is the odd one or two out there, to whom we will appeal. Any questions, or more info needed? Either message, or watch this space for the next instalment!

    Cheers for reading…

    Self-Sufficiency

on the subject of self sufficiency and what it means to us...this was posted to our original recruitment thread but is as relevant today as previously, so, i'm posting it up so that any readers looking in to see how we are...will get a very clear idea on what we mean by self sufficient.

Firstly, a nod in sweetcherrypie’s direction for providing the inspiration behind this post.

What is self-sufficiency? I’m not sure if everyone sees it differently but this is how it is for Us. For us it’s about Consideration. Am I suggesting that if people are doing it differently they are wrong? Well, no. There’s no wrongs or rights to this game, just play-styles.

I’m talking about US and what works for OUR hood, so that for the reader that may be considering another hood, and they’re looking at us, they know what to expect and, what OUR expectations are too.

The request function in our hood is strictly for crops, for the achievement.

We ask for stuff as a last resort, not as a first. If we are low on something we exhaust every avenue (be it waiting whilst the product cooks, or Tom) before we ask fellow hoodies for stuffz. We do this out of consideration, not because we are mean. We do this because we accept that just as our own barn isn’t limitless, neither is anyone else’s.

This means if there’s a boat that requires cream/sugar/feathers/jam and all the other horrid stuff no one likes to have to complete, we either let it go…because yannow…it’s ok to let that ship sail…OR, we advertise…because being considerate of each other also equals respecting each other and that means we do not expect fellow hoodies to fill, ALL the crates of, all the horrid stuff we either don’t want to fill ourselves, or lack the stock to fill.
That said, sometimes a hoodie may have the stock and be happy to fill…BUT it shows the rest of the group that a fellow hoodie has been considerate, advertised, and is not treating the collective groups barns as theirs to use by right, but as a privilege.

So, if you have a play-style that drops a shopping list of needs in chat without even a pls, if you flag all four crates unadvertised of your boat, of EVERY SINGLE horrible boat that’s going, ostensibly because you are doing the derby, cos yannow you’re derby’ing and that’s priority and super important and then you sit back and wait for hoodies to fill? Emotionally draining, selfish behaviour and barn exhausting aside, we would not be a good fit 😊

We are a town and events playing hood first and foremost and what we prioritise are players that can handle their game, not just handle it they NAIL it, cos they have the resource management skills needed to be effective. THOSE are the types of players we would fit.

For those types of players our barn is permanently open. Because despite how the above may read, we ALL need help, we recognise this, and we aren’t shy in giving that help…BUT what we won’t do is help those that cannot and will not help themselves first IF you last that long with us.

For those that read the above and got put-off, my work here is done…for those that read the above with relief because they know exactly what I am talking about…come and find us…😊 we need self-sufficient players like you and if you play town? Even better!

This sounds like the perfect neighborhood! I'm currently level 89, just a few points away from 90. I've been playing on my own for about a year but I miss certain aspects to neighborhood playing. I'm an active derby player and town player.

Any neighborhood that references Fibonacci numbers and uses a picture of The Dude in their recruiting thread sounds pretty appealing. I'm a level 138 and interested in checking out your hood, please. I love the town and am pretty self-sufficient...and as a bonus, I shower regularly.
