I've done my best to try and get some decent threads going around here, as I, like you, noticed how absolutely horrible things had become on the forums. It almost gives me a headache to log on to the forums anymore, as all many people want to do is complain about anything they can possibly think about complaining about. It's just a very depressing situation.

But yeah, I think moving all of the Clash-related threads like base design/farming advice/etc to it's own sub-forum was a mistake, as now General [the most viewed sub-forum] makes the entire Clash Community look like a bunch of disgruntled individuals, as 70% of the threads created in General are complaints. I'm sure there's still some dialogue on tactics happening in the sub-forum, I'll just never know, because I'm not gonna go there. I can only handle following one sub-forum around here.

Yes that's right. The problem is that people just can't get used to the idea of reading the other sub forums.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I just don't get this.

Subforums are here (at least IMO) to divide the content of the forums into organized areas. Want to look at base designs and discuss army comps? Go to TSQ. Wanna watch some cool YT vids and see awesome graphics? Go to Creativity. Got an idea? Go to IFR. Etc. etc.

If we leave all the "good" suff in general, why even have subforums? Then we are supposed to mix it in with the "bad" in general? I just see it as wholly counterpoductive.

If the subforums are here to organize the forums, then they should be used to... organize the forums. I really don't get why it should be different than that.

    But that's just me.

I sometimes wish, the mods would be less quick to move a thread to tactics subforum - just so the the good threads get a chance to be seen - just a wish...

umm an actually I dont like the tactics subforum, it should be back in general, I've been here 12 months and I just dont know what the heck general is for?

same with the mano threads - I firmly believe when that subforum was created - we lost a lot of colourful threads and the general excitement of the Forum - less is more!

Edit: Zach - I dont need things to be organised (boring! Oh wait that is General now) give me chaos... base designs, mano threads and that stop go thing was amazing - the only subforums we need are: clans, new ideas, resources (to put all those sticky threads which are so good) and off topic - the other stuff belongs in General!

    Totally agree here.

I think there should also be a forum-subforum, so threads like this wouldn't be A)"wrongfully" in General or B)buried in off-topic.

A mighty +1 for this even if it's rather irresponsible. I fully understand the desire to organise everything here, but it seems like the forum spirit has been lost in translation with so many good threads being organised into less publicised sub forums. Theoretically this thread should have already been moved so the fact that it hasn't kind of reinforces my faith in the way these forums are run. I know that all the moderators are great people and I just wish they could express their feelings more - i.e. allow certain threads to remain in general even though it technically doesn't belong.

We are currently following a regime designed to 100% organise these forums so that exposure will be spread out across all the sub forums. In my mind this is an approach designed to fail because even if it does work to its desired potential, there is still the possibility that one thread, designed by one forumer that has that extra spark of energy that could benefit countless others and inspire a whole generation of new players who on that one day at that one time wanted to see that one post, could be lost. In my mind that is simply tragic. Even if we lose this proposed level of organisation and initiate chaos, it will be worth it for just one post.

To me, "general" is a place for information that's potentially valuable/interesting to everyone. Clan recruitment, bugs are repetitive information that's useful to a limited subset of the members, I think those should be divided out.
