The base (any base) is certainly 'crack-able', everyone knows this. When people don't realize this, they (anyone) should move up in trophies. Not just tagging Master three and calling it good, but really see what its like to have your base picked apart at high level gameplay.
Should the OP compartmentalize the storages? I certainly would, but why should he? If it works for him then great! Though the fact he's compaining about lightnings taking to much is an indication the layout might not be the best. Just sayin'.

Tier 1 and 2 troops with well placed spells can take all the storages. The key is being well placed and a knowledgeable user behind the screen. Other people will take your TH and simply take your base out of the system quicker than that experienced person will find your base. Being realistic here.
You can't have it both ways. Each type of base has advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of yours, which I am assuming is a vault design, is that it is hard to get to the storages with a simple farming army. The advantage of a segmented base is that it is very hard to get all of the loot. The disadvantages of your base is that when you get to the core, it is very easy to get all of the loot, and you can lighting the storages for a decent return.
A rage spell to the left or right and pop goes 2 of your gold storages, yes even with tier 1 troops. Especially since you have both your inferno towers upgrading![]()
