VG error after season’s first attack

Today, after season reset, my base is hanging in high 4600’s and I attack for the first time almost at end of my shield.
After coming back from the raid, I gained the cups, the loot, but my guard (VG) is only 30min, and my personal break is 4hrs away. I am still in Titan2 so I should have received a 3hour VG.
Is this a bug, or has the shield system changed somehow?

tbh, I do not recall whether i usually attack with shield left after the raid in other season reset , or if my absence of league at start of the raid is the reason for the short VG.

Whenever the season resets, you're no longer in a league, so you get the default 30 minute Village Guard. Only after you attack and get placed in a league, will the league-specific village guard be in effect.

That’s also what a mate said, but puzzled me that in my recent memory I’d never attacked at end of my shield after a season reset... I must have always been in a league when my shield ended (aka done more than one attack), so never occurred that such happened.
Must be my age kicking in
