How do clans that weren't in cwl #1 get placed in league for cwl#2

I might have missed it. CWL #1 used war weight for seeding whereas subsequent cwls won't for clans that participated in cwl #1. Is it a hybrid where the new clan will be placed in an existing tier with cwl 1 clans based on its weight? Or will new clans be grouped together in a separate pool, seeded like cwl 1, then interspersed with the existing leagues after their first cwl?

Just curious because some of the matches were hit and miss in cwl #1. Some of that gets ironed out with the promotion/demotion process but would be readily undone if new, previously unseeded clans are dropped into the mix in the next cwl.

If your clan missed the first CWL but decide to participate in a later one, you will placed in a tier based on your 15 strongest players opted in.

Which, incidentally, opens up an interesting avenue for exploiting this mechanic.

Let's say you have a big mixed clan with a 10/10/10/20 breakdown. If you send all your 9s to a brand new clan for the league week, they will be placed somewhere around gold 3 and will face a bunch of clans with mixed rosters, the bottom half of which will not know how to beat th9s. They'll dominate their division. Then they return to the main clan and the little clan dissolves. Next month, repeat. 20 or so stars x gold 3 bonus + 7 wins x gold 3 win bonus is lots more than they'd get by watching your 12s up in champs for a week.

Even after placing in a tier, you are randomly placed in a league of 8 within that tier. All of the tiers are large and diverse. All are designed to let the cream rise, and sludge sink. There will always be some clans that are better, and some worse. So some matches will be even and some you will dominate, and sooner or later you will get crushed.

Just be prepared. Don't expect an even match.
Listen, and understand! That Engineer is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pain. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until your win streak is broken.

so a 10/10/10 BD probably be seeded M1 possibly M2, with a star bonus of 10/ win bonus of 25. would it be worth it to trade that in for a G3 bonus of 6 per star and 13 per win?

    3 stars in G3 is 18 medals, 2 stars in M1 is 20, 7 wins in G3 is 91 medals, 4 wins in M1 is 100 medals.

not sure if it is even worth the effort.

I get your point Warios. Higher league brings higher rewards.
But Doctor is talking about the accounts that wont get to war within cwl, as they cant make the weight/team. It is an avenue we will be exploring, if it turns out that there are no medals for simply being on the roster, but not involved come match day.
