    Concerning "Seasonal" Troops

Hello Supercell, I want to directly message you. Recently I left an idea on the in-game support section, where Tony The Giant Goblin kindly directed me into letting this idea be known in the forums. It is not something new, but rather something that exists but can be thouroughly enjoyed more and I am certain that most of the clash of clans community will agree with me on this. It's seasonal troops. The concept is good, when first introduced it made players enjoy the game more, but not because of the fact that the troop was seasonal, it was because they could use a new, different, and fun troop. Now, what if you could rework this concept into "season" troops instead of "seasonal" troops. What I mean is that, the concept of inserting a spooky skeleton barrel or pumpkin barbarian in Halloween time is certainly fun, but what if you inserted it and players UNLOCKED the troop, for usage in the game even after the season is over. I know the thoughts you might hold, such as the fact that a singular troop is unlocked by each barrack upgrade, and you probably don't want to mess with that by adding where you unlock multiple troops for that barrack upgrade, or the fact that it messes with the donation system as well since you cannot donate seasonal troops or upgrade them either, it is all preset. Well, I have a few ideas, one is to allow multiple unlocks of troops at a town hall level. How? Well not unlike the way you have mutliple options when selecting single vs multiple target infernos, you can have a specific button on the barracks of that level to unlock this new troop, starting at whichever town hall level you insert the troop to. This way, you can unlock the troop as if upgrading the barracks BUT the barracks actually remains the same level, so the system will not be messed with. Same concept with laboratory. As far as donating goes if you could work that in it would make the players happier. Also, there is another way, you could add a completely new barracks.. The "Season" barracks. These barracks would be used to unlock season troops, it can be just a singular building, and then it will not mess with the level system. You can even have the barracks change appearance by seasons/holidays to spice it up. With this new barracks in mind you can then just add a new tab in laboratory for season troops to be upgraded, or mix them in with the regular troops, and then you can integrate them accordingly for donating. Now wouldn't holidays be the perfect time to introduce new troops? Clash Royale has over 80 different variations of troops you can use for diversity, and with these "seasonal" troops working and fun, well I do not see why they should not become permanent troops so eventually clash of clans can have as much troop variation as clash royale does. For now, since you already know pumpkin barbarians, battle rams, ice wizards, giant skeletons, and skeleton barrels WORK.. You could release those like every week for unlock on the "Season" barracks. There has been season spells, and even traps before that go away after the holiday, but I am sure most of us agree that the thing that brings us joy and fun is primarily the troops, the spells/traps are a bonus. After saying all of that, I hope you take this into consideration, as I know many and many of people want to see this come into effect, and I wanted to propose ideas to help make this come true. If you could please reply back Supercell, it would be really appreciated.

The whole point of seasonal troops is that they're fun and only temporary.

If they were to be left in the game long term then the work load of balancing goes through the roof because eltheyd have to be continuously balanced like all the troops we have now.

    Realistically it's a terrible idea.

I know there would be balancing required but that is something that supercell needs to face to make the game more varied. Do you really feel like new permanent troops would not be better than having and enjoying some for a week or two? Personally I don't see why not, the more troops available the more fun players can have, and for sure more than just for a week or two every new holiday. As far as troops having to be continuously balanced, well supercell only really makes balancing updates months apart from each other, so there is plenty of time to balance troops. If the troops can work for seasonal times there is no reason they cannot become pemanent, its only because supercell's decision currently is to do seasonal troops, but as far as player experience is concerned, who WOULDN'T want new troops. You certainly do not (at least the seasonal troops) but I know dozens of players who do. Including myself.

I like the way you went along with all of these suggestions, you're holding creativity in supporting your idea.

From a player's perspective, I'd love to see seasonal troops joining the permanent squad, there're millions of players enjoying the giant skeleton and the barrel events that they use them in every raid attack, who wouldn't like such events to be permanent?! This is what you'd hear from a normal player. However, if you want a logical answer, not everything works as we think it does, balancing is one, tiny and simple issue that stands on the way. There are plenty of obstacles ahead; the fact that SC has removed all seasonal troops that players had had saved sounded to me (and me only) that they're having some trouble with keeping them in the game permanently.

And after all, it's much better to wait for new "brand" troops just like the E-drag than to make troops like the barrel permanent. In addition, I'm sure that the excitement we're all feeling with using these seasonal troops will drop off if they become permanent, they just won't be as "special" as they are now.

This has been my perspective, let's take a look at a SC staff's one:
