My low-level TH7 got one on the first day, top corner slightly to the right IIRC. My TH9 (over lvl 100) has yet to get one.

Maybe there's like a maximum amount of obstacles on your base before you get a Christmas tree? Like, you have to have less than 20 obstacles before you have a chance of getting a Christmas tree or something.
Well I've had under 5 obstacles since the update and haven't got one yet.
