The purpose seems to be redistributive in nature, aiming to weaken the "penalty for progression" that many players (myself included) feel makes winning resources unnecessarily tough at TH 10 in particular. Obviously we will see how effective this is at that once the dust settles from the update, but my guess is that it will pretty much have the intended effect. Loot will probably end up slightly more concentrated in the upper level THs is my prediction.

Now, this does not add any additional resources to the economy. Since that's the case, it's obviously not a change that is meant to help the overall loot situation in any way. But, what we may see is that if they can get the distribution of resources right, they may be in a better position to add more loot later.

My 2 big takeaways from this are:

    A) They acknowledged that there was a problem with loot at the higher TH levels and
    B) They are doing something about it.

Another point I want to add is this may bring some excitement/risk back to high level defense to an extent. Players will be targeted if they have 400k in their storages, almost regardless of how strong their base is, assuming they are approximately the same TH level. I felt that defense was getting rather stale and unless cupping, I pretty much log off without ever caring about loot. At least now I hope to see some decent farming attacks on my base every now and then.

Maybe it's the best solution, maybe it isn't, but I think it's better than nothing is a pretty good step in the right direction.
Morning, sorry, I've not read everything yet on the changes but are we still keeping the league bonuses?

If so then theoretically isn't this going to add plenty of additional resources to the game? Assuming TH9 and 10s start raising their trophies to attack bigger, more profitable bases?

All you farmers need to come up into crystal 1 or masters to find the maxed out storages. I personally think its awesome and plan on taking out 2 storages for 200k, and add on the 100k league bonus! We now have a sustainable model for cup hunting.

Yes, of course we are keeping the league bonuses! I think we'd all be rioting if they took those away lol.

Well, we have to see if we really get that effect, though, and if so, we need to see how big it is. I wouldn't go as far as to assume it yet. I certainly hope this happens, though, and I personally plan on sticking around in masters as a result of this.

I look at it as SC is trying to balance the loot system. If you look at the whole picture it will be an improvement.

In this world there is no solution which will fit everyone but at least SC is trying their best.

I personally can't wait for the new patch as the loot recently is quite bad for me as I am a th 10.

yup i see more people moving up to crystal and master to farm and a lot more townhalls outside in these leagues, which would mean more resources entering the game

Good morning When I landed on this thread, I had to refresh my browser. Twice. Now I feel a bit embarrassed that I was worried that everyone would go crazy and I'd wake up to a full-blown mayhem, forums filled with flaming, trolling and conspiracy theories. I stand corrected, this thread is brilliant!!! Thank you, all of you, for taking the time trying to figure out (with good results) what this might mean to the overall enjoyability of raiding and looting Forumers, you rock!!!! As Jonas says on the video, there'll be a dry season after the change is implemented, that's because the loot will be piling up to peoples' villages, but after that there should be way more variety for high level TH attacks than before.

As many people say on this thread, this doesn't affect the overall amount of resources in the game. A small change might come from the League Bonuses if/when people attack more/higher, but this patch isn't meant to change the amount of resources in the game, it affects how those resources flow. It looked like the amount of resources wasn't the core problem, the overall amount of resources has been actually pretty good, but the fact that it was so equally distributed made high TH attacking monotonous. I know that it might seem a bit controversial thing to say that the amount of resources wasn't the problem, so let me use a totally hypothetical and extremely simplified example:

    Old system
A TH10 goes to matchmaking and sees 5 villages with 200k loot. The next 5 villages will be the same, then the next and the next…
-> Conclusion: There isn't enough resources for my expensive upgrades, attacking doesn't make sense, how am I supposed to progress in the game?

    New system
A TH10 goes to matchmaking and sees 4 villages with 0 loot and 1 village with 1million loot, same happens with the next 5 villages and the next and the next…
-> Conclusion: There is loot available and I can loot resources when I need them for my expensive upgrades, attacking is interesting and I'm going to take risks I otherwise wouldn't take because if I win, I win a lot. I'm progressing in the game.

Note: I'm only talking about the overall amount of resources, it's the same 1 million in both cases. How it's distributed makes the difference. The new system will not be this black and white (all or nothing), but I hope it opens up a new perspective on the resource discussion. After we see the new system in action, we'll see what future changes make sense and are necessary. As Jonas says in the interview, we'll be monitoring this extremely closely, but it's not only about data and numbers, we need your feedback!!

Now I've got to run, we're gearing up for the update, but I'll pop back in every now and then. This thread is awesome

    Yours,
    Marika

From what I have gathered in this thread is that I'm supposed to trophy up to where the 350k/400k capped villages are and use the expensive army comp that takes 1 hour to make and spells that take 1.5 to 2 hours to cook. Let's say I'm lucky or skillful and get all of that capped resources. The second I log off I'm attacked by players of my kind and lose a good portion of that(at least), rinse and repeat? Is that how the new farming at TH 9+ level will work? sounds fun to me.
    TH 10.

The new loot will redefine the farming range that we are used to, and there is no guarantee which farming range and army will be the most efficient.

First one to discover will be a winner. My guess is around 2400 to 2600 trophies for TH9 and TH10.

Will i getting fewer loot with this new system?

Now i'm at TH7 with 150K-800K range loot for each gold and elixer. And for this new loot system the max i will get is 200K only?

    Sure.

But what I have learned one thing in this game, there are basically two kinds of bases you get resources from. One is inactive ones, two is bases whose owners have weaker understanding of base design(or just plain stupid to put in a simple way). SC discourages raiding of the inactives, and encourages preying on the weak. Essentially that's what the game boils down to.

    I'm fine with that.

But another thing is, Clash of Clans' competitive raiding is extremely undeterministic. You put two same units at the same spot they often go attack different buildings. Let alone other factors that can turn battles around. Therefore, luck plays a huge factor in raiding. Let's face it, raiding isn't very hard after you understand the basic mechanics. But I feel that's just not much you can do to help the outcome of a battle when facing tough bases. So farming will become more of a roll the dice at TH 9+ levels? That doesn't sound very rewarding or fun neither.
