MDCFC’s QMT.. go on ask me, I dare you!

    Evening peeps,

another volunteer to the chopping block!

I’m usually pretty vocal on here, so I don’t imagine I’ll be ducking any questions - unless of course they contravene any forum rules .......like I have any clue about those

Now the small print and legal jargon

    Reminder about Qmt Rules.
ATTENTION: PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE POSTING

    1. If you would like to host your own QMT, please indicate so on this thread. We will VM/PM you when it is your turn. DO NOT make your own QMT.

    2. Please don't ask questions that break forum rules or force me to make answers that break the forum rules. If it gets ugly, we likely will not be able to do any more QMTs in the future.

    3. Ask as many questions as the host of the QMT will allow, but make them good questions. It's not a competition to see who can ask the most questions.

    4. Answering questions is under my jurisdiction. Which means I won't answer questions I deem to be inappropriate.

My threshold for inappropriate is pretty high, so you’ll do well to find a question that trips rules 4!

To quote Tyrion Lannister “I drink and I know things, that’s what I do” ..... the beer fridge is well stocked so ask away.

LOL, Steve. The appointed hour has arrived finally. Here are the questions I jotted down in my mind ever since you volunteered for the QMT. Thank you for your time.

    1. What's the significance of your forum name, mdcfc?

    2. If you were the Supervisor of Supercell Player Support for a week, what changes would you make?

    3. Given that you're an awesome artist and bedazzling baker, please describe the cake you would design for HD's tenth birthday.
    a) Would you accept a commission from Supercell to make it?
    b) Would you accept in game diamonds or vouchers as payment? If so, what's your price range?

BTW, for those who missed it, here's the screenshot of the cake Steve made.
    https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...1#post11790591

    4. If you had the power to enhance one of the your following senses (vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste) on a permanent basis, which would you choose and why?

    5. Have you attended the following performances at the following venues? If so, what are your impressions?
    a) A Shakespeare play at Shakespeare's Globe
    b) The Proms at Royal Albert Hall

    6. You mentioned recently in this OT subforum that you served in the British Army. Did any of your relatives also serve in the British armed forces and what was the oldest war they fought in? Did they tell you first-hand accounts of the following events?
    a) War of the Roses
    b) The French and Indian War
    c) Battle of New Orleans
    d) Battle of Waterloo
    e) Battle of the Somme
    f) Battle of Jutland
    g) Evacuation at Dunkirk
    h) Battle of Britain
    i) Falklands War

    7. One of the fascinating courses I took in college is comparative politics. Since then, I've been an admirer of the British Parliamentary System in which party leaders resigned because their party lost control of Parliament when their MPs lost seats in elections. In contrast, after losing Congressional elections in America, party leaders usually don't lose power when their party lost control of the House or Senate because their members inexplicably re-elected them to be leaders of their party. I don't understand the lack of party discipline and accountability in American politics.

What's my question again? Um, what do you admire about the American political system? You may need to dig deep for this one, Steve.

    8. I'm surprised to read that Brexit negotiations are still taking place after British voters had decided on the controversial issue a few years ago which led to the fall of the David Cameron government and the ascension of PM Theresa May. How has Brexit affected you personally?

    9. Where were you during the recent Royal Wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry?
    a) At home
    b) At Wembley Stadium watching the FA Cup final. Congratulations Chelsea!
    c) In St George’s Chapel in Windsor
    d) At a pub watching the Royal Wedding ceremony and the FA Cup final

    EDIT:

Beer fridge? Um, are you dispelling the myth that Brits enjoy drinking warm beers?

LOL, Steve. The appointed hour has arrived finally. Here are the questions I jotted down in my mind ever since you volunteered for the QMT. Thank you for your time.

    1. What's the significance of your forum name, mdcfc?

Firstly thank you Lynn, I knew you’d ask some great questions . MD is my nickname - short for Maddog. It’s a reflection of my enthusiastic and aggressive style of playing all sports LOL. The CFC bit is my love for Chelsea Football Club, I added it because MD wasn’t accepted as a forum ID when I registered.

    2. If you were the Supervisor of Supercell Player Support for a week, what changes would you make?

Just a week and so much to do! Clearly the primary responses on game support are often quite sappy and don’t address the issues. Cut out all the patronizing “have an amoozing day” garbage, just actually read the request and answer it directly, and treat the player like an adult. There seems a lack of common sense in the responses, leading to escalating messages back and forth. If I ask a question about drop rates in a derby, I don’t need a lecture on how to trash a task - even a cursory look at my record would show that a lev 120+ player leading a hood in the leaderboard top 50, probably knows how to trash a task!
I don’t really understands the relationship between the forum and SC. One is given the impression by support that expressing feedback on the forum is what they encourage, yet there seems very little engagement with the forum from SC, leading to player frustration. Improve that connection to improve players engagement with the HD team, make us feel valued as customers.

    3. Given that you're an awesome artist and bedazzling baker, please describe the cake you would design for HD's tenth birthday.

There’s a little bit of love in every cake I do, so I’m not sure I could bring myself to fulfill a commission from SC LOL. This was one of the first cakes I ever did for a friend who bought a small farm, so something along these lines but grander. I’m sure we could come to some sort of agreement of diamonds for every player in my hood.

    4. If you had the power to enhance one of the your following senses (vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste) on a permanent basis, which would you choose and why?

Taste - I love cooking but have a very clumsy palette leading to a lot of big bold flavours that lack subtlety

    5. Have you attended the following performances at the following venues? If so, what are your impressions?
    a) A Shakespeare play at Shakespeare's Globe
    b) The Proms at Royal Albert Hall

    a. No - because I struggle with Shakespeare to be honest.
    b. Yes. Last night of the Proms - amazing atmosphere and celebration of all things British. Plus I love the iconic British composers like Elgar.

    6. You mentioned recently in this OT subforum that you served in the British Army. Did any of your relatives also serve in the British armed forces and what was the oldest war they fought in? Did they tell you first-hand accounts of the following events?
    a) War of the Roses
    b) The French and Indian War
    c) Battle of New Orleans
    d) Battle of Waterloo
    e) Battle of the Somme
    f) Battle of Jutland
    g) Evacuation at Dunkirk
    h) Battle of Britain
    i) Falklands War

I have never done any genealogy so have no idea of my family’s engagement with history. My father told me of the views of planes dogfighting in the Sussex skies during the battle of Britain’s, and seeing bodies in a downed German bomber. My grandfather was a train driver so a preserved occupation during WW1 and WW2. I have my own vivid memories of the Falklands war, a little too vivid sometimes.
I did have at great great great uncle who died at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He wasn’t actually in Custers regiment, he was camping in adjoining fields and went over to complain about the noise!

To be honest I find the US system confusing and confounding. With over 300 million people to chose from, how did you narrow it down to a choice between Clinton or Trump? I dont think you’ll find that many people in the Uk that admire our parliamentarians at least. It’s often said that the last person to enter parliament with honestly intentions was Guy Fawkes.

    8. I'm surprised to read that Brexit negotiations are still taking place after British voters had decided on the controversial issue a few years ago which led to the fall of the David Cameron government and the ascension of PM Theresa May. How has Brexit affected you personall

Ah the B word, I knew this one would come up. Brexit has been very divisive in the UK, just like the election of Mr Trump in the US, for now that sense of division is the only real personal effect, but I think full effects will become apparent in due course. I’m not sure negotiations is what’s happening, it looks more like Brussels doing it’s best to take punitive action against the UK to discourage other countries from taking a similar course. I have never been an admirer of the EU government - it’s simply corrupt and undemocratic, and I believe European countries should retain and value their individual identities, history, customs etc. Not become one amorphous European super state - after all isn’t that what’s one famous Austrian dictator tired to achieve back in the 1930’s?

I missed the opening action because I was attending a veteran breakfast club locally. When I got home I started to watch the ceremony on TV, but 15 mins into the American pastors religious diatribe I couldn’t take any more. We were hosting an FA cup final BBQ that afternoon, so it was time to go and start prepping the food, quality controlling the beer etc.

Lynn, we do indeed drink some wonderful ales at room temperature, but I don’t discriminate against our colder beer cousins, and I enjoy those equally 🍻

"Hay Dayers" really do come up with an impressive title. In the CoC OT, it's, 'Clash's QMT' again and again. :|

    1) Is your real name, 'Steve'?
    2) Have you seen me around?

    Hey Donna, thanks for playing

    1. Blue ..... Chelsea fan so that’s compulsory

    2. 5’ 10” in reality, but 6’ 8” in my own mind LOL

    3. I think it would have to be Munich. I love Germany, and any city that has so many sausage varieties and a beer festival named after it works for me!

    4. Very easy - Goa India. We went there a few years back for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was magnificent. Beautiful place, awesome food, and the most engaging people who just couldn’t do enough to ensure you enjoyed your stay. It was a culture shock on arrival for sure (think Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), but head and shoulders the best holiday we’ve ever had.
Disclaimer: This was Southern Goa, further from the cheaper tourist hotspots in Northern Goa .... which is like Benidorm with curry!

    5. Sign up to do this probably . No I guess it would be dropping a salted caramel chocolate cake I was deliverng to the village tearooms. I’ve never dropped me before, better that than a wedding cake!

    6. We have friends coming over for a Mexican banquet this evening. So steak and chorizo chilli, buffalo chicken quesadillas, Tacos, chicken fajitas, nacho’s, homemade gaucomle and salsas x2, salads etc. Tequila water melon, lime and chilli cheesecake, Mojitos and Mexican beer.

hi Clash, thanks for taking the time.

    1. Indeed it is
    2. Yes because I’m stalking you. As we speak I’m watching you, so stop fiddling with that right now. Didn’t your mum tell you it would affect your eyesight

    My oh my.

    First the dare. 😄
Then this. “I did have at great great great uncle who died at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He wasn’t actually in Custers regiment, he was camping in adjoining fields and went over to complain about the noise!...“ 😆
Then THIS. “...the last person to enter Parliament with honest intentions was Guy Fawkes.” 🤣🤣🤣

    Thanks for the laughs!

    ***********************

Q1: What happens to all the other people (NOT me!) who have in defiance dared to ask you questions?

Q2: Is the story about the great great great uncle true?

Q3: Was Guy Fawkes related to the great great great uncle?
