coup d'état button for dealing with rouge or absent leaders

Simple as it sounds, got a leader going loco or AWOL? Initiate a coup d'état with at least half elders to displace them, leader goes to the one who hit the button.👹

There would be several who hit the button.
IMO a Leader has paid and worked for the clan, he should stay Leader. However, if he is inactive for a 3 weeks, perhaps leadership could pass to the member with the most donations/xp/time in clan (a formula could be worked out). If the Leader were to return, he would automatically get it back, and he would not be able to be kicked. If this were implemented I would have no problem with it.

Yes that way, people who manage to talk their way into becoming elder can simply invite friends, elder them, and kick the leader.

    Terrible idea.

Thats all very well about leader earning position etc, but players do drift off, have accidents etc which leave clans stuck.

If your clan is dysfunctional enough that regular coups occur, then thats just nature taking it's course as far as I'm concerned you and your clan probably deserve what's coming to you.

There would have to be a happy number of elders to sign on to counter small groups from trying to go Castro of course.

i.e someone initiates a coup, either the yays have it or the nays do. If it fails the initiator looks stupid (always a good incentive to think twice about pushing the button). Button has a check and balance question or two such as 'are sure you wanna push that?’ followed by, 'seriously, are you really sure you wanna push that?

What is this about regular coups? It only takes one to destroy the clan.

Your view of this is very short sighted. I guarantee just like the forum was full of people complaining about whole clan kicks, it would be full of complaints about this coup option.

If you want to stage a coup, create your own clan and get people loyal to you to follow.

Sorry, might have gone over your head..
coup d'état may be too strong a term for the button.. Would you prefer 'player initiated referendum'?

When i posted this i was thinking of feeder clans and how they can fall prey to this sort of thing, not all coup are about coups.

You can call it the "romper room gobblestack" for all I care. It's the idea I take issue with, not the name of the button.
