Why isn’t Clan Level factored into matchmaking?!

We are a level 8 clan and most often are matched against level 11-14 clans and are over-matched. We always lose these wars, sometimes by significant margins.

Every once in a while we are matched against clans that are level 8 or 9 and the wars are very competitive and fun.

And twice we have been matched against Clan Level 5s and we wiped them out. It was fun, but it certainly wasn’t fair.

Clan level seems to make such a big difference in the wars but doesn’t seem to be factored into the matchmaking. And since we are almost getting matched against clans that are way higher level than us, waging clan wars is kinda sucking.

    What big difference?
It only makes a different if you're not able to donate/recieve max troops. All other perks do not influence wars.

clan level, besides the donations advantage, doesnt effect war much, and If your right that the higher the level the steonger the clan (your assumption) then having it as a factor would essentially be punishing a clan for leveling up, If they were after war win streak or war win %.

isnt it better to take into account a rolling average of last 7 wars results, If you want to control for skill and organisation? And many think you should not control for these. Yes this is also punishing a clan for performce, and Im not sure i like it, but it meets your goal better i would think?

Its an interesting one, i kinda guess on average their is some advantage, in that a level 16 clan very often has a long war history and kinda knows what they are doing. They also are more likely on average to have more siege donators, and they do get the donation bump.

i know these are not big differences, and that many new clans are often old hand (like rippple) in semi retirement or trying little experiments so some low level clans will be full of capable war hands.

my point? I realise after writing this is pretty weak, and the advantage is not enough to justify a further matchmaker variable to shrink the search pools, i i think i actually agree with what you wrote.

Clan level isn't factored in, because the only difference is clan perks, with regards to troop donations. And since there is no guarantee of donated troops, then it would be unfair to penalise the clan.
it cant be used as a level of proficiency.. what if they have simply been around a long time, and lost every/most wars?.. they would still be a high level, especially if they do back to back. What if every member that took them to a high level left?.. should the replacements be penalised, even tho they are nowhere near as good.
Cant even use total wars won as a guide to matching, as this would also not account for player movement within the game.
If you want to see how good your oppo is, then pop over to cocp.it, and punch in their clan tag. If they have a lot of recent green, then it could be a long day. But cant factor past history into the MMA. It wouldn't be fair on newer members.
On prep day, its best to concentrate on what you need to do, rather than whom you draw. Once you decide you cant win, then there is a good chance it will effect your war raids.

You can get clan exp by losing wars. Why would that be factored into the match?

Contact SC here. Click here for how trophies are calculated. An idea to improve legends here. I wish max players had a separate loot bank as described here. Caution, I often discuss for the sake of discussion and enjoy having my opinion challenged (or approved of) even when I care little about the actual issue. My balance wish: get rid of tornado trap, make it a decoration.

That would be punishing the clan for being good, and punishing them for putting in the extra shift!

Why would you ever want that? If two clans are equi-weight, why would you want the clan which has really worked hard to win wars to be matched badly compared to another, which has hardly put in any effort?

Only offense and defense should factor in war-weight. Nothing else.
