I Challenge You SuperCell![Charity Event?]

Alright, looks like I have some explaining to do.

Im not demanding Supercell do this, nor am I saying they aren't charitable. What I am trying to do with this is provide an opportunity for the community and supercell to come together for a worthy cause. Yes, I understand that gems have no real value. Which leads me to my next point: Reading through all these posts, I think something needs to be clarified.

The only gems that would be able to be donated would be gems that have been bought. After confirming the purchase of gems, you would be given the option via a popup to donate them to a charity pool. So basically, the community IS donating to charity, just through SuperCell. Why not just donate directly? Because Im asking Supercell to double whatever the community gives.

I believe someone mentioned "Movember". I was not aware Supercell had done this, but the challenge still stand. Im not saying supercell has to do it this instant, but it would be nice to have the community and supercell working together to give to those in need at some point in the future.

I dont think there is any reason for any of this via the game or involving sc ... If you want to give to charity, then do it. This here is a game and it should be free of these 'charity drives ' or whatever...

How would you pick one? Which one? Why not another? Which country? Some global charity? ....nonono, lets keep giving to charities a private and personal thing and lets just do some awesome clashing here in game.

Im sure sc has their own charitable commitments anyways.

i'm struggling with this really - why don't you simply donate to a good cause with all the tax benefits for the charity that goes with that? I know here in the UK gift aid gives an extra 33% for everything I donate.

I dunno it seems a bit tacky people giving via an iPhone game when there are so many other legit ways to support these good causes.

Because a lot more money would be donated this way. Lots of SC profit comes from kids- how many kids give to charity and write it off their taxes?

I really don't see the benefit of "having the community and Supercell come together". I'd rather see more money donated, than have people feel better about themselves for donating. Rather than have a charity pool, I would have SC say "For the next month 5% of all profits go to X charity".

In my opinion, any small deed towards the better good is a form of Charity. It's not quantifiable.

It's unfair to coerce people into being charitable. If you believe in doing something good, its better to lead by example.

Using a game for entertainment purposes as a means to highlight one's compassion and goodwill is crude and distasteful.

Publicity. SC needs more than showing up in BBC business section, it needs to show up not only in the ads section, it must appear in the front pages. Create publicity.

And publicity will help pay off the donations SC will give.
Why is that?
Because publicity is another form of advertising. Whether you do good or bad deeds (good please), people will remember you and will consider you as an outlier(since most gaming corp dont do Charity).
If SC heads to Front Page, then more people will play by indirectly finding out CoC, BB, and Hay Day.
In turn, SC will gain more money because people are willing to buy more gems since they want to play the game quicker.
Thats what I know.

We dont coerce people to donate. Its their own choice. SC will just double the amount of the true value of the gems donated. Its your right whether or not to donate.

This thread isn't about coercing people to donate, it's about coercing supercell to donate.

SC won't let you donate achievement and obstacle gems.

If they did some sort of charity gem drive, it would be along these lines:

"It's the season of giving! For every gem purchase made in December, SC will donate half the profits to charity!"
