As a long time player and lurker of the forums this petition is worth creating an account!
In my clan, most people who boost don't actively buy gems for it. They use those earned from obstacles/clan games and would buy gems and special packs for other things. If regen time is in line with army cook times I feel like people would buy more gems to auto-upgrade heroes in between books. Higher heroes make the game more enjoyable and a more enjoyable game brings in more people.
I doubt this is gonna happen, but it would be neat.

Being honest the high regen time of heroes prevents us from attacking as much as we'd like
I understand we could gem/speed regen time with gems/potions but in the long term it's not possible to do it that often, so we need to give the game a break and go do something else
