Who doesn’t “pay to play”..... how far have you got?

Howdy ladies and gents. Just wondering how many people here don’t actually buy coins or diamonds? EVER?

i never have, but it’s mighty tempting at some points.
hayday is the only game I really play, so I give it a fair bit of attention.

still it got me wondering, I now see it as a bit of a challenge, see how well I can do without “cheating” by skipping ahead easily by buying diamonds. “Doing it the hard way” certainly isn’t something that supercell want everyone to do, they want money to be spent..... but it got me thinking that I am at a big disadvantage, especially against other teams in derby since I’m in champ league....

they can all spend diamonds, but it takes a week for me to save diamonds to buy Tom, or buy an extra task....

but im sure there are a few avid players out there that don’t spend money to play....

im level 93. It’s taken many years.

I have not purchased any premium currency here and I am level 135. I have over 600 diamonds from free play at the moment and enough coin to throw at Maggie if something nice comes along

i don’t consider purchasers of diamonds “cheaters” at all. Most consider this a hobby and it is not unlike going to a movie or paintball, bowling, a concert, out for dinner, on a holiday.

i have being farming since November 2012. most of the purchase packages have involved decorations and it is really not my thing.

i also do not consider diamond usage a factor in any derby I have come across, champions league since inception.

First of all, welcome jacket to the HD subforum. I'm level 130 and have played actively and casually since June 2014. Since I play other mobile games, I find that Supercell games don't erect a pay wall in which players must pay real monies to progress so I continue to play SC games for years and delete non-SC games after a few months.

I don't need to buy diamonds because I get enough from movie tickets, global events, the mine, tool chests, and sea chests. And I used plenty of diamonds to open the maximum number of slots on most machines except the Lure Maker and Net Maker.

I buy diamonds occasionally so I can keep Tom, Rose and Ernest active and call the occasional train early since I live town and I’m a deco freak so get those when offered. So I pay to play even though it’s not necessary. What I don’t do that I see is becoming commonplace, is pay to win.

Never spent real money for this game. Level 104, playing for 5 and a half years, more than 1500 diamonds in stock.

My biggest dream is to hire Tom permanently and get me some of these time limited deco/diamond offers from time to time, but since I‘m still a student, I simply can‘t afford it. I‘m totally grateful that there are many many players who don‘t mind spending real money, so that I can play this lovely game without having to do the same.

I have been playing Hay Day since April 2013 and am level 156 with around 2800 💎💎💎all accumulated through gameplay. I do get to watch the videos for a 💎 most days. I appreciate those who do pay but have no plans to do so myself. My husband does buy 💎💎💎 so he can keep Rosie and Ernie employed 😀😀

WussyPuss and Bender, this is really a wise and mature approach of yours. Using diamonds is a free option available to everybody. Some decide to exercise it, some not. My hood does, but we have never ever bought a win. On the contrary, we win because of carefully planned and followed strategies, dedication and team orientated approach. Otherwise, we would be spending literally all our income on this game. 😂

I never buy diamonds and I currently have collected 495 of them! I am level 127. I think that is one of the best things about this game, you really can do very well without using and real money!

Interesting feedback.... I’m not sure I could ever save thousands of diamonds from gameplay.
I normally get enough in a week to shuffle my horseshoes and hire Tom for a day,

but reason I mention it, there has been a few times now when my hood is placed against other hoods that obviously pay to play.... you can tell because the top few teams all get over the maximum possible without buying tasks.

i have in th3 past had to buy 2 more tasks just to stay in my league.(ravaging my diamond account) in our hood we call it “falling on our own sword”. Only 4 of us in my team.

it’s not like I’m doing tasks worth 260 either... we all try to do max point tasks or as close as possible.
all good, battle on..... it’s not like I’m crying poor either, I could certainly buy diamonds, but I think it makes gameplay a real achievement when you get a goal......

actually thats what what I loved about fishing... it was a lot harder to “buy your achievement” I earned every token fair an square, then caught every single solitary fish......l was real proud of that. Took years.

My husband has been playing for less than nine months - that’s when I started playing and at some point I set his farm up as a mini and then he took it over, ergo I started another mini!

He’s never spent a penny, he’s reached level 40 or 41 now and he usually has more diamonds than me. I think he has around 60. I buy a small amount of diamonds every 4-6 weeks and try and time if for when there’s some nice deco going, and I currently have 27.

In view of this I have resolved to keep my mini money-free, I started it around Xmas/New Year and I visit it most days and play it for a short time. incidentally I it doesn’t do boats but I almost have enough vouchers to buy another dog; there are currently two here. It has 35 diamonds.
