Im in agreement with you (and it seems like everyone else) on this one. I've been playing COC for a lot of years and most buffs or nerfs make sense, but I don't understand the rationale on nerfing a troop that almost nobody uses. Typically Supercell nerfs a troop when it becomes the meta and everyone just spams it every attack, that certainly isn't the case here. Darian, I would love to hear at least a short response on this one...
with the SP nerf & extra walls, gonna stop my SP upgrades (lvl 9 atm) & max my NW & BD (currently lvl14)
more walls can mean better times for NW with wall blocks..
I’ve been thinking about this, trying to make sense.. but i still don’t get it..
The only theory that make sense is this:
SC took decision based on the Data, it’s showing that significant people are upgrading Super Pekkas, especially during the Battlefest.
But what they don’t seems to get is:
1. Super Pekka is one of the only elixir dump that’s fast enough during Battlefest.
2. Our main troops are maxed, and we are expecting a buff on the Pekka, so we took a chance on the Super Pekka.
SC looked at the Data and didn’t really understand what it means.
This is actually NOT the first case where SC misinterpret the Data.
Last time SC made this mistake was when they actually increased the Defensive weight from the war matchmaking, instead of the opposite.
This was when engineering was still in the early stages and people just grasped the engineering concept. Instead of preventing it, they arctually give engineering a buff.
My guess is that they looked at the Data and found a lot of lopsided bases. But they didn’t consider that these are NOT engineering. Those lopsided bases are actually rushed bases by casual players that rushed without trying to engineer war matchmaking.
Anyway, i hope SC reconsider this nerf and actually buff the Super Pekka instead.
The final overcharge damage is 1340 and archer tower level 8 and single cannon level 8 have 1329 hitpoints, so lowering overcharge damage reduces its effectiveness there. The nerf makes sense only if they buff it later
Got hit with an all max pekka attack, 100% 😞. NERF IT, NERF IT, NERF IT! LOL
That only happens against lower level bases, though. And, as we all know, max troops always fare better against lower level bases. That’s why this is just so bizarre. This is supposed to be the biggest and baddest of them all, so to nerf it when it’s essentially unused, except at lower levels and even then only maybe so...?
Maybe they’re getting ready for a buff of some kind, but why not do both at the same time then? Reduce death damage, make the explosion happen more quickly (like I said - half the time, it takes so long that it affects nothing), increase movement speed, and up the DPS. Instead, they just made it so no one will even upgrade it anymore.
Who knows...maybe that’s the plan. Nerf it now, then bring it back to life in a few months when things are dying down. Call it the Cannon Cart effect, or the Witch effect (from the HV).

Super Pekka Sucks and you're nerfing them?
Honestly I have level 15 Pekkas and I can't get them to do ANYTHING. Bases that I can 3 star with my eyes shut with canon barbs are virtually impossible to do well with using pekkas, they simply take too much damage, get tossed by spring traps, and get completely screwed by guard post troops. I haven't yet maxed giants so there is some hope that maybe a 8 giant, 4 pekka combo might work but I am not getting my hopes up.
I find them cool and fun to use, but feel like a total idiot for maxing them right now. I have 1 level to go to get that final explosion damage and look SC is nerfing the most underused troop in the game. I've only ever seen 1 level 16 pekka attack against my base and it got a whopping 55% 1 star.
The death animation needs to happen like 50% faster, right now the building it might actually kill on death simply dies to your other troops... Why in gods name would you nerf it?
Sometimes I seriously wonder what is wrong with this company.
I think if the death damage radius was increased as well, maybe less damage is fine but otherwise it isn't a good idea.
