Buy 4 tesla and upgrade it to lv 8, you suold be fine
This game is designed for offense not defense.
Why would you expect as a th7 to defend a proper th8? Seriously max teslas at th7 wont stop pekka 1. Wizards? Level 5 wizards are when they get to be fun and worth spending the time/money on to use. We use pekka 1 and wiz 5 in war and easily 2 star many th8 and even 3 star some.
Pekka tanks and wiz deal the damage!!
As a th7, keep a builder free and dump all excess into walls. If you have lots of elix, build an overnight army like mass dragons or giant wiz healer and run your revenge list. Use the trick to load up your barracks with drags, wallbreakers and same with dark, load up the hoggies.
For the DE loss, it sux. Bring level 4 zaps on your revenges if you can not get to it otherwise.
As stated earlier, TH7 is a loot machine! I never lost more than I gained. Also, why so high in trophy? Anytime I gravitated into gold 2, I would make suicide raids on big loot bases till I got back to g3 or s1. It was so easy to gain trophy but up in g2 it's hard for a th7 to save any loot. As a th8 I wreck th7 with barch and bking regularly. I would never waste a pekka on th7, I love to bring some valks to wreck th7 with tight open bases.
Stay th7 till your walls are max and bking 5, hogs, minions too. In fact I would stay there till you start to get bored or if you war alot, you get tired of being steamrolled by dragons.
Th8 has decent walls and good defenses but then you are left open to th9 level 6 (giants, barch, balloonian) and that Dark Elixer Assassin the Archer Queen. You'll know frustration then, lol.
Seriously, enjoy what is probably the best TownHall level in the game, dark troops, barbking and dragons are fun in the sun!
Of course I have not gotten golem but valks and pekka are a blast and those level 3 dragons change the game. Nearly impossible to defend even as a th8.
Unfortunately, the reason you are getting attacked more by higher level troops Is your 1700 trophy count makes you vulnerable to higher experienced players who are farming targeting guys like you. If I were you I would take advantage of your TH 7 and not focus on trophies but farm for resources as TH 7 is arguably one of the best if not the best TH status to have to save and build resources to max your base.Originally Posted by Spellmaster

Once you have your defenses maxed, and your purple walls(Level7 walls as well as lvl8 &9 walls each need 2 max WB to penetrate-FYI) then you can move on to TH 8 to buy your DE drill and farm that base and enjoy the game much better.
The biggest mistake most players make is rushing thier TH7 to get to TH8 to get the drill needed to feed thier Barb King.This is a huge temptation and distraction that in actuality cripples many TH 8 bases right away from being attacked like you have experienced and will continue to experience if you stay on this path and not take advantage of farming your TH7. I have directed many of my clanmates to this direction and usually the first time they farm at TH7 they notice how little thier resources are taken and how awsome it is even though thier trophy count is much lower.

I guess you might be able to do some damage to wizards with GBs, but you only have two of them, so they might get blown up before wizards get close. If you come against PEKKA, you have no chance unless your CC can save you (=20 lvl 5+ archers or a witch, provided that the PEKKA doesn't get any support at all).
I don't want to discourage you, but you shouldn't be able to defend against an army like that. It doesn't matter if you are maxed or not, every base can be destroyed and there is absolutely nothing you can do to it. When you go to TH8, you will get steamrolled by lvl 6 giants and AQ every time you have loot. TH9s get wrecked by TH10s, and TH10s destroy each other. This game is about bullying others, and that's an undeniable fact.
So true, that is why as a Farming TH7 you become the bully and much less a victom. But make no mistake, a Th 8 will only get "steam rolled" if it trophy pushes and stops farming. The idea of farming is to Collect the resources needed to max out a base then progress forward. Make no mistake, the search attack mode only goes by trophy count. Not what TH you have. That's why farming is The way to go-unless of course you have access to a Metel black American Express card and decide this game is more important than purchasing a Car or a downpayment on a house.-Lol

best reason to upgrade your townhall if you need one, you will be very glad you did. Don't listen to the sheeples going "baa max your base baa". They're just echoing what other sheeples say without thinking.

You can't, not at TH7 anyway. The only defense that significantly slows a pekka down is the tesla and inferno tower, but you can't upgrade yours high enough to take down a high level pekka and you can't make inferno towers. It might be possible to stop a lv1 or 2 pekka and someone who doesn't know how to use them though.
th8 helps.
Keep your loot low, hide your elixir and dump extra loot into walls.
