    Lightning takes away the requirement of using strategy. Almost any decent dark elixir farmer out there will admit that dark elixir farming is challenging and takes a good bit of strategy. You have to find an army composition that works for you and your schedule and farm accordingly. Lightning is a cheap way for people not to use any skill and easily steal dark elixir. I'm truly surprised there hasn't been an update limiting the amount of dark elixir that can be gained from lightning spells. I can understand lightning spells being 30 minutes or shorter train time if it had a lesser effect on de, but I don't like it at all for now. It's great to have 1 to lightning cc archers, but that's about it for skilled players.

    Fully agree! One of the major downfalls of cup hunting is the massive downtime for spells. I can deal with waiting 45-1:30 for troops! But 2 hours for spells is just too long. It make cup hunting extremely boring!

    Plus there is a mismatch going on. If I gem barracks(100 gems), I am stuck waiting for spells. If I gem spell factory(20 gems) the barracks becomes the bottleneck. Gemming both is a waste of time, cause the spell factory will never keep up. And don't get me started on waiting for HEROS!

    So come on SC, provide some synergy here. The rough time to build a cup army, plus spells, plus hero regen should all be the same time! None of this 1:30 for troops, 3 hrs for spells and 2:30 for heros. It just feels cobbled together with no thought or reason.

    Some great points here. The thing to remember is the game changes every month. New troops, new defences... The times need to be adjusted also to maintain the games balance.

    Lightning isn't only used to hit de storages. They are very helpful taking out mortars with my barch or bam army. To the op i completely agree. Spell times are way too long.

    the reason for that is so you cant use lighting spells on de storages even more then right now

    These are the spell times I dream of.

    Lightning spell: 20 minutes.
    Heal spell: 15 minutes.
    Rage spell: 20 minutes.
    Jump spell: 15 minutes.
    Freeze spell: 20 minutes.

    That's still an hour for just 3 rage spells!

    Edit: Or just make them all 15 minutes each

    I think if supercell want to push people into trophy pushing, this would be a key step forward. The loot bonus is already desirable at crystal 1 +, and spells now cost elixir so you're making quite a profit in gold from successful raids. Well, I am anyways, so I'm capable of getting upgrades going. Now to solve the horrible spell waiting times.

    People are going to use spells regardless if they have to wait or not, and most won't go into a battle at such a high trophy count without a full spell factory. Make people spend less time waiting = more fun the competitive side will be.

    That's the thing though, the game is at least playable with the Spell factory boosted. But that's with Spells being produced at 4 times their normal rate. So the normal Spell times are obviously nowhere near where they should be if four times the speed of production seems about right. At high trophy levels you can't go into an attack without a handful of spells and waiting a few hours for them to make is just crazy...
