Derby points!! How come?? PLEASE HELP!!!!😕

I'm going to try to explain this the best way possible cause i am in need of help from experienced leaders PLEASE!!
Okay I came from a hood that the leader set tasks as 312+ all 9 extra not required! We always always was in top 3 and most of the time in 1st by a BIG LEAD!!
Well now I have my own hood and we do all 320's ×10 cause we want to win! Who wants to lose a game? We are struggling to stay in top 7! Why is this? We do not like using our diamonds to not be in top 3 and some finish by Wednesday and some finish before derby ends but we all complete all tasks! It is a relaxing fun game for myself and hoodies but we are not having fun coming in 4,5,6, or 7 doing all max and using diamonds!
How do we fix this? Do we lower tasks???
ANY HELP SO VERY VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!

I’m guessing your hood is quite small and you are matched with hoods who don’t only do 10x 320, they rush them with diamonds because it’s about whoever finishes first. In much larger hoods this isn’t the case, it’s more like the hare and the tortoise parable.

I have heard of people saying they take a low first task circa 280-300 and that seems to give them an easier match up. As I understand it that’s shouldn’t make any difference, but anecdotally some people feel it does

There are many variables that will affect where you place etc. So I will try to break it down for you, and then explain some of my experience. I hope others of larger hoods will also post here. My hood usually has between 2-5 playing in the derby.

Are you using delayed start? That is where you try to get the highest point tasks on the board (8-10) and have them ready to finish quickly. So if there are production tasks, make sure they have been prepped and are just waiting to be picked up. It also means that you need to make sure that you have hoodies that can trash the board frequently and that they also communicate they are prepping a particular task. Communication is paramount. You are not put into a derby line up until the first task is taken off the board.

The NH needs to know or learn how to stack production machines, especially for tasks that come up frequently. Some NHs may see the Spa Task basket more frequently. So make sure someone has those items at least partially done. If someone is going to take a boat task, are they willing to call the boats early and are they prepared to fill pretty much whatever is asked? Starting the day before the derby starts, you may want to ask that people leave whatever they can unwatered, so that help tasks are at hand and no one needs to look thru the DD to find the “!”.

Try to remind people to put their townies on the platform as often as they can. A constant stream to pick from will help those with any of the town related tasks.

If there are hoodies that cannot be on frequently, you need to accommodate them to the tasks they can do in the time they have. Leave messages using the envelope at the top of chat so the hood knows what they are to do.

Everyone that is doing derby should be made at least an elder. That way they can trash the board. Of course, use your discretion when it comes to new people. Our small hood has NEVER rushed the derby board with diamonds. Some may but if you are prepared, it is not necessary.

Lastly, if everyone has their CL derby achievements, there is little reason to work so hard to be top 3. Many folks will tell you that the top 3 prizes are not worth the added stress and effort.

These are just the things that come to mind straight away. I hope it is of some help.

I want ro say thank you so much for relpies! Helped lots!

We have 17 hoodies and 9 doing derby this week! Some of us stack and some make as we take tasks! We always finish help tasks right away and same with trucks! We also keep towns running with all 17 hoodies so easy pick up of townies as needed! Some of us keep our townies full and all fully served so town tasks are very easy for us cause we have upgraded time and slots to max! Also some call boats and some dont! I just don't understand how we all complete all 10 tasks at maz and don't come in 1st! Like i said i came from a hood that did all 312+ 9 so this just isn't making since to me!
Are any others experiencing this with maxed tasks and for 9 hoodies playing derby!
Coming in top 3 is important to use even though some may say the prizes arent the best! We want to win! And we do not use diamonds to speed up the board!
Once again thanks for any and all help!

If your NH is doing all that you say, and I don’t doubt it, the only thing left is the delayed start. Is someone taking a task right as the derby starts?? It’s easy to want to do that. I would suggest that you try getting at least 6-8 tasks of 320 points on the board and have them ready so that they can be finished within a few minutes!! This will give you a jump, but then you must work fast and furious on the rest of the tasks you choose. Our hood, even with 5 in, would finish within 24 hours. You may need to find an alternate form of communication, such as kik. That way nothing gets lost in chat and your hoodies can have a list handy of what tasks are available and who will be doing them.

It’s worth the try. Good luck.

I have to say, to me, this sounds baffling. Maybe we've just been lucky? We have 12. Typically, all are actively playing. We do only 320 x 10 and have all gold, one bronze and only placed 7th during a mystery derby because we just got horrible, pain staking task after horrible task. Lol (I actually love mystery derbies though)
98% of us stack, just a couple, don't. On good weeks, I'm done by Tuesday night but the majority of the group finishes by Friday. Once in a great while one or two trickle on by Sat. We've never delayed a derby and we've never experienced what you are. Kinda makes me think maybe we'll have this issue eventually? Lol

We are a hood of 23 but numbers opted in can vary between 12 and 20. We don’t do delayed start (tried it once and we ended up pitted against 3 superteams).

We usualy have no trouble getting a cup, it’s been gold most weeks for months now. Maybe we have just been lucky but we did have a spell last year when we set our trashing limit at 312 and we still placed (but then most of our hoodies are allergic to taking tasks below 320).

Just plug at it, try taking 315 for a week, maybe the HD fairies will put you in a less competitive group. I’m sure it’s just a glitch and it will work out better for you soon.

Thanks again for relpys! We do have some aussie that are on when derby begins! So i think the delayed start sounds like something worth trying!

Maybe your Aussies could just trash the board to try to get the 320’s up. If they have enough ready, let them start. My NH does delayed start, but it is usually only about 12-18 hours from the start of the derby. Some solo players wait until Saturday or Sunday.

Suggest it, see what happens. If it doesn’t get you in the top 3, where your goal is, then more experimenting may be necessary.

Your results in the derby are indeed illogical, we have had, 12, 12, 10, 9, 7, and 7 opted in out of a NH, with 19-22 farms over the last weeks.

we have had 5 golds and a 4th, when we were up against 3 super NHs, who completed all their 10 x 320 tasks much quicker than us by Thursday

Very difficult to understand what you are are doing wrong, I suspect nothing
