    Regarding Base Development and ‘Engineering’

I can’t speak for anyone else but I hope that Supercell isn’t putting .5s in a tough spot for the future. Prior to mass engineering, it was accepted to be a .5 while you got your offensive power caught up and stronger before upgrading new defenses. The whole problem with engineering has been bases with no infernos or worse, having a maxed Warden.

I hope that future updates don’t put fresh town halls in the precarious position of not being able to war because the system checks them in as engineered. That may be considered engineering to a point but it’s not the same as what has befallen CoC overall. Building a warden and having no infernos is really the issue that needs to be addressed, and hurting .5s in the process is not the way to go.

Well it all depends by just what you had in mind by 0.5. I have confidence the matchmaker will remain able to distinguish true new th bases. There’s rather a difference between the base that has placed all the new fast cheap buildings at low levels, started a young warden, upgraded cc and lab and has researched maybe just one th11 war troop upgrade - where placing a level 1 eagle will come very soon, loot and free builder dependent - as opposed to something with a max warden, levels added to king and queen, a choice of war offence, wall development, yet no eagle and maybe none of the new defences added. One is a young th11, the other is pretty clearly something else and should be treated accordingly.

Now what the MM delivers for that new th11 to attack is another story, and likely depends mostly on the overall war lineup of the clan and that base’s place in the roster size wise relative to the rest.

The MisMatcher already - or still - isn't able to distinguish much, unfortunately; or we would simply NOT see TH11 hiding in between TH6's and TH7's with wardens, queens and kings in the double digits, no matter what is said about changes and/or tweaks... [and please stop with the default responses that 'it has to be our fault']

Where did I say or suggest that?

On matching I was speaking mainly from the perspective I have in my own clan actually, which is perhaps a little unusual for being very heavy, so any new to th bases we have are always bottom of the lineup, and were typically facing bigger bases rather a lot of the time even before pressing that upgrade button.

But I see enough of other people’s posts on their kinds of wars to have a decent sense of what a reasonable matching would be - and 0.5s routinely facing lower th bases isn’t that. Far less the no inferno level 6 dragon wonders and their ilk beating on th9s. But they war and they need to face some appropriate opponent which to me is some other offence lopsided clan, unless you deliberately disadvantage them by handing them a heavier clan appropriate to their offence, playing down their deliberately underdeveloped defence in determining the match.

This goes back to what I started with in answering the OP: just what one has in mind by 0.5 in terms of its actual power. The term could take in a lot in different people’s usages of it, all the way from max offence down to something not too far from a new to th level base just tipped a little to offence.

That's so silly. New townhalls don't have to be a .5 to be in war.

If they raised they heroes to near or actually took the time to max them for their previous townhall they will be able to compete especially with the power potions and troop books being handed out like candy.

No reason not to drop the d early on especially with match making being mostly fair but that's just my opinion.

    Pretty good point.

Grinding out a decent war base took time and money. There was more of a reason to .5 in the past, as compared to now. The "my base isn't ready for a hard opponent" excuse is losing it's relevance.
