I think you can get to 2400, no problem. I've seen TH7s in Champion, so a TH8 at Crystal I/II is certainly possible.
That said, above 2400, just be prepared to lose every defense. Even with maxed walls and defenses a great layout just isn't going to change much for a TH8 at that trophy level. You'll maintain or advance only by attacking and being online more than you are defending.
