What gets you more xp, Donating or doing upgrades? I'm only level 83

Relative to time, donating troops gives you way more experience points compared to upgrading buildings.

So for an example, if you upgrade a building worth 14days, it gives you 1099 xps.
I'm sure most people can donate more than 1000 troops in a season.
