I am in one of the Greedysupercell clans...it is not about winning...it is about getting noticed...it is about showing unity across the game and the clans; it is about having to pay exorbitant prices for gems to upgrade or even be competitive. Most do not know that other countries pay different prices for gems based on their market and some pay less than half of what others do. It is not about saying SuperCell shouldn't make money...it is about saying that they are going for ridiculous profit margins at their gamers expense. The game reaches a point where you will never be able to attack without taking a loss on your resources in order to win trophies...the Pyrrhic victory they have mentioned other places in the forums...where you win, but you still lose...

I know buying gems is always a choice...

I have studied this game a lot and played it extensively. For all the developers do right...they keep adding to the necessity for players to buy gems if they have any sort of competitive spirit. I appreciate all of the opinions posted on this subject...good and bad...this is a forum and that is what this is about...so i never take it personal. But unless you have walked in someone else's shoes...why not have an open mind?

We want to improve the game for EVERYONE...not just the top clans and players....everyone being able to compete makes the game more fun for all...

I think the prices for gems are completely fair. But that was 2 updates ago.
I have currently got my base to what would have been maxxed before TH9 was introduced. I have also spent about $300 to get there. But now to max TH9 and the heroes just seems so far out of reach, the biggest motivational killer being the walls....
Im reluctant to spend a cent now, ill just slowly grind away a few battles a day.

I have played Clash of Clans since last September and this game has surprised me how long it has held my attention. It is a fun game but when my friends ask why I play, I often point to the game economics as something I am still trying to understand. More than just the game's gold & elixirs but real cash $! It has been a top iOS game for how many months now but we all still play it and keep it at the top of Apple's #1 grossing $ in app purchases game? I do see the game economics / trophy ranking problem this clan & players is trying to highlight, try to make SuperCell listen and potentially change their update decisions before the game starts a spiral downward. I do not know if lowering the prices of gems is the right answer.

My 2 cents...
SuperCell should have introduced Dark Elixir & Hero's without the ability to gem them. Chew on that piece of game changing economics for a bit but that is decision cannot be reversed.

So now what should SuperCell maybe do? Introduce something into this game where you cannot gem to achieve but what should that now be?

I have suggested that same idea of non-gem able heroes the day after the heroes update. Good try though..

I've been talking to members of these clans and they are nothing but genuinely p/o'd about the fact that gems are too expensive to buy (hence why they have all been going to other websites to get cheap gems) and not only that but the fact that if you reach 3000 trophies, you don't have the right to purchase a 1 week shield to upgrade. Only a 1 or 2 day shield. Not all of these players are 'gemmers'. I think they're doing something right. Other people just need to get over the fact that these people can buy gems but now with their upgrades it's becoming more and more expensive. Some people have sold their accounts to get their money back that they have spent on this game. I'm backing them 100% mainly because there are websites out there that sell double the amount of gems for half price so supercell don't even realise that they are losing money from top players.
