Soy Sauce is the New Syrup

    Hello, everyone!

I was just doing some thinking about the new updates, and it seems that the designers have created a new critical bottleneck in the design of the sauce maker. Because soy sauce takes 3 hours per bottle, the rate of making sushi depends on your rate of soy sauce production--you can make only 3 bottles of soy sauce overnight, or 8 if you run it all day for nothing else, so that will be the maximum amount of sushi you can make in a day. Competing with this, the salad maker requires olive oil for everything; every salad you make takes away from the already small number of sushi you can make in a day. If you get a boat asking for salad AND sushi (or salad and soy sauce, or soy sauce and sushi) it will be just like the dreaded double sugar boat of the past.

I am disappointed with the game designers for repeating the same design flaw that has so infuriated the players in the past. They should have made at least one item for each of the new production machines that bypassed the sauce maker. What were they thinking?

You call it a flaw, I call it a challenge.

The sushi maker is my new coffee kiosk. Yes it's going to sit idle for a while, especially since I bought all 3 machines at once. It's going to take a good strategy to get ahead of the soy sauce curve without using Tom's services. Let it sit and build a supply of soy sauce.

It's optimal to have all machines producing around the clock but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Hi Powdermonkey. I hear your frustration. Most importantly your post is very informative. I do not have the salad bar yet so until then I will be making and keeping soy sauce in preparation for what is to come.

it is not the comparable with the coffee kiosk as you can run this with or without cream, with or without sugar, with or wothout milk. The sushi machine is unique for having to produce a slow item first before running it at all.

Regarding uniqueness of ingedriences the only you can compare it would be the lobster pool but you can catch and cook up to six lobsters at the same time.

The sushi bar simply is another not well thought through neither thoroughly tested feature but good on you that you are trying to see something good in it, even if not intended by the developers.

They were in a terrible rush to release the update, one may make a mistake and add soy sauce instead of rice.... Lol.

I know the developers go back and change prices with updates but do they ever change production times? The soy sauce would be a good time to tweak it a bit. 3 hours is extreme, but then so is 8 hours for one jam (much less the 6 and 7 the other jams take).

    I agree with this.

Players with a high enough level to buy all the machines will face that bottle neck for a while yet. Players who are low enough level to have to unlock everything will have time to build up stockpiles of sauces first before getting the other machines.

Soy sauce takes 3 hours ti make but once the mastery is completed it will drop to about 2 and a half hours which will make it slightly easier but there will always be a challenge. These new products are all unlocked above level 50 at which time I think can be expected players can handle these challenges.

I don't really mind the soy sauce production time and can see how this is in balance qith other products. It has become a problem only because they added soy sauce to all sushi which is unique. There is actually nothing really good about this issue, it isnt even a challenge. It is just a matte of more time investment OR more ,oney nvestment needed in order to achieve a normally balanced game play.

If one wanted to discuss anything then it would be the motivation behind. For the rest, just do it. Wait or pay, that are your choices.

I'm not at a level to get any of those new machines yet, but I remember back when the small boat was introduced and much later the lobster pool there was alot of complaining about how long it takes, the making of lures, the "recovery" of the fishing spots and so on and on. I dunno, I think it just takes a little time to adjust. I would ignore all boat orders/cast off boats and just spend a couple days building a nice stock and go from there.

In addition to what Holidae and Kolonistje1 said:

I see a BIG market for Soy Sauce.

Soy Sauce is the first product available with the Sauce Maker (level 54). Sushi Maker is available at level 56. (link)

It takes a few days to more than a week to level up from 54 to next level and the same time to make plenty of Soy Sauce and probably to Master the machine. Once player can make Olive Oil, the only product requires Olive Oil is Mayonnaise which is not available till level 62 (link).

In the long term, players from level 54 to 62 will choose to produce Soy Sauce on their Sauce Maker and supply the whole Market (help boat, sale, trade, gift....). Soy Sauce becomes then hot item for those in level above 54 and probably generates incomes for future buildings.

I say go for it, let's sell Soy Sauce neighbors. I'll buy them all.
