As a forumer, it is everyone's duty to make the forums best in their way! An orange badge isn't required in this regard.

By following the clan rules and staying positive.

It is not everyone’s duty to police the forums. If you believe someone has broke a rule, report it and let the mods do their job.

Actually I am sure the mods appreciate the help forumites give by highlighting the rules to new members. Of course some people take the term forum police to the extreme, but nevertheless, anything that helps reduces the mods workload (who are of course volunteers) can only be a good thing.

The report button is of course there for a reason, but if there was a blanket ban on forumites pointing out and directing member to the rules and instead simply pressing the report button, the mods would soon be overrun with report requests.

More often that not, the person you are pointing the rules out to is generally grateful to receive an informal notice rather than being pm'd by a mod...

Ah fair enough. I've never come across that thread or the guidance issued by Alex. Unfortunately, I am not in a minority either, I see these sort of posts daily...

No worries, I think the reason that thread was created was more due to some threads having the first 10 responses simply say 'wrong sub forum', but this was the guidance we got and I've heard nothing to the contrary since - unless I've missed something which is possible.
