It was nice to read on this thread some posts acknowledging both sides, and objecting to unkind practices and comments. People of all ages and ability levels play hay day; no way to know if the person being called to task is a child, disabled, etc. A family member in her late eighties plays to help combat the beginnings of dementia. I do not like to think she should refrain from playing because someone might object. Rather, I hope they are tolerant, or quit playing with her if her forgetful style is an issue for them.

I do not think anyone is wrong in their preferences about how to play the game; that is their personal belief. But some people's styles are incompatible. With so many players, and the ability to form our own communities now, with no bad feeling at all, if another players style does not work well with mine, I separate from them. I expect the same from my hay day neighbors if they do not like how I play. I wouldnt have much enjoyment playing if i had to concern myself about other people's preferences because that is something I can't ever really know. So I just do things my way and accept the outcome.

It makes me sad to read of people becoming disenchanted with hay day because they are concerned about their play style offending someone. I hope they find a way to be comfortable playing the way they want, and let others do the same.

Willow, your 80 yr old family member can play with me anytime. I spent most of my nursing career in long term care. Old people are the coolest. I had a 107 yr old resident who had a rocker as old as she was and a doll just a year younger and she brought both of them to our facility. The stories she would tell were wonderful.

Aha. A fellow nurse. I wondered why I got such a "good people" vibe from you!

Everything that comes from your keyboard is awesome. I know that's off-topic, but I wanted to throw a little praise your way!

As many of you, I don't care if all my RSS items are bought by one person, or if one person only takes the LEM or BEM I may have up, or if every item for sale is bought by a different person.

I had a friend/neighbor who was of the "don't raid my stand" mentality. I like to start with Greg and visit all of my neighbors' RSS's at least once a day....click, check the stand, click to the next stand and check, click to the next stand and so on. When I would arrive at this one neighbor's RSS, she often had her farm name telling people to share, not to raid, don't buy too much, and then she started calling people out on it. I could feel the negativity when I checked out her RSS and I didn't like it. I hardly ever bought from her as whatever I needed was either not in her stand or already bought, so I knew I was not in danger of raiding per her standards, and I felt she helped me out often enough with boat orders and plant watering, but I was just a bit uncomfortable whenever I checked out her RSS. I decided that the stress wasn't worth it and I unfriended her.

So, bottom line, for whatever reason, if a neighbor doesn't make you feel comfortable, unfriend. There are too many other things in life that will stress you out...why add more stress from a game that is supposed to be FUN?

This game is starting to be less fun and more stressful every day. Just half an hour ago I bought THREE items from somebody's shop. She is always insisting on us not raiding her shop, so I left there a tempting box of nails and a cup of chocolate, although I only have a couple of those items in my barn. But even three must be too many items, because she changed her farm name to tell me off for buying too much.

Bottom line is, I don't like to play like this. I simply cannot, and have no time, to consider every farm I visit and try to guess how many items will be one too many. As Tigger said, this is just a game and there are far more serious things in our lives to worry about whether this guy has bought 10 coffee beans but he has 10 coffee bushes in his farm.

So I will probably quit before Christmas, but until then, if you ever visit my farm please feel free to raid my stalls, water my trees and fill every open crate in my boat. Cheers!
This is where the handy dandy "delete" button really does come in handy. Don't let someone make you so upset that you quit. I find that if I am at odds with someone and how we play the game with each other, it's just best to delete each other and move on. I admit I get tense about my RSS at times when I have one person come and clear out all 15 or so slots THREE times in a row within minutes. (When I am really trying to help a few of my neighbors with their current boat orders) Yes, that is the time to delete when it comes to styles of play, and I did. With that being said, I would also give you the shirt off my back if you need it- I help with tons of boat orders, happily!

You will never find a group of more helpful, humorous, and generally good-hearted people in one place. It took me a while to start posting on here, and almost got scared off with my first post as well- when I was bluntly redirected to another thread and called out for being off-topic. Was soooo embarrassing. But you know what? I hung in there and took it as a newbie does, and I have ended up with amazing neighbors, and some hilarious friends.

I admit that I play to escape. Things I would rather not get into, but it gives me a peace that I don't have in RL. So, I just don't let the little things bother me, play with those who play well with others, and mainly just HAVE FUN!!!

    Enjoy!!

I am a daily player who loves to help, tries to keep my shop filled with goodies for neighbors, and believes in my idea of fair play: help, be helped, and don't take advantage- meaning please don't be greedy. As a rule, I don't accept nor assist with sugar or dairy boats. Other than that, we're on. ~Wendy

There is not one person in a community that is more or less important than another. All of our opinions, thoughts, and questions are just as valid as everyone else's. And the way to keep our community as lovely as it has been since before i even came around, is to always be respectful of that. So many wonderful people here are able to do that. I'm sorry that you were made to feel less significant in our community, but i assure you...you are not!

Trillian...that must have felt awful!! It is exactly why I had my etiquette meltdown so many months back! It takes away from our games when people choose to shame others and try to control others' game play. I have had some neighbors change the name of their farms to things like that...what people can buy...who didn't follow their rules...and...i just have to tell myself that that is their playing style...i choose to not let it affect mine...and i unfriend. Please don't let other people take you from a really awesome game that you have loved long enough to reach level 58!!! Wow! And also.....join me in my assault on etiquette!!

    very well said Tiggerr.
Thank you, Raindragon..I truly appreciate your words. And Trillian, seriously..dont let someone ruin this game for you, after 58 levels of fun and a lot of your time. Lets join the Team Etiquette!!

I hope that "name and shame" on farm stand names is just as prohibited as in the trading forum... take a screen shot and report them ... and then unfriend them!!

For the 99.9% of us who would rather be tolerant farmers...
    ENJOY THE GAME!!!!!
    I agree totally.

one of my neighbours switches between three farm names (that I have seen)
    1: all for sale
2: last box for trade - thanks
3: last box for (name) boat

He said it works well for him.

Aww sweetie. I am so glad you didn't stop posting. I am hoping that whoever redirected you did it so you could get to the right place quickly in order to get what you needed. No one not newbie or veteran player should ever be made to feel embarrassed for not knowing something.

In addition to nursing I also taught both nursing assistant students and beginning Blood drive staff at the Red Cross. Many times the staff member knew what to do but didn't know "the Red Cross Way" or "the State Division of aging way" Many felt confused and embarrassed when they asked questions they felt they should already know. There are no wrong questions or stupid questions except for the ones you don't ask. Sometimes we get so used to the rules and procedures for doing something and forget that it isn't always so obvious to others. Glad you hung in there

I like it. That way if the fast trigger finger taps too quickly, you can know it and either keep it as part of the game or hunt the right guy down and give it back. A dear friend in this game called me a magpie once because i confessed to being addicted to the shiny things. I see them and I want them, even the duct tape which I usually have coming out of my ears. but what can you do,, the heart wants what the heart wants. lol
