Removing a che@t is not comparable to offering any attacker some trophies for a shield. There is a world of difference between stopping people che@ting so they never properly attacked and forcing everyone to chase trophies.
By the way, at higher trophy levels where you need spells you now see your elixir drain, so bravo to everyone that celebrated the swap from gold to elixir to buy spells.
I find it laughable some posters claim putting the TH outside the walls is not in the 'spirit' of the game. Do tell, what is the spirit of the game?
Si we can't lightning strike the DE storage because that is also not in the spirit of the game? We can't put resource storage outside the walls? We cant use more than one healer on attack? Where would this stop??
The day I am forced to play a game in the way someone else wants is the day I play another game. Variety adds spice and everyone has different goals and reasons for playing. If you don't like it, then play something else.
If you want to criticise anyone over the sniping of exposed TH's, then criticise the snipers, not the farmers, for they are not playing in the supposed 'spirit' of the game that some people claim. Any such claims of 'spirit' are tantamount to claims of being unfair - this is essentially what is being claimed by any such posters, i.e. it's not fair that I cannot raid a farmer with lots of resources because he has a shield. To be clear I disagree with this view 100%.
Yes I am a farmer and I have an exposed TH. Farming with cheap overnight shields is the only non-cash way of getting enough resources for upgrading defences and troops in this game. This is not che-ating, it is playing the game that SC has created.
Though I agree with everything, I have been beaten by TH destroyed only, the attacker got 48% or so, one star, being from the TH. The game would need to figure out how protected a TH is and give shields accordingly. Don't worry about what the farmers say, they don't see it's a different game played higher up. Most will never see because they're too busy farming TH8's for 200k.

I could care less about shields being removed from destroying a town hall. Town halls are just a plain nuisance when you're trying to stock up on resources to actually progress in the game. Just try stocking up in resources to upgrade something with a protected town hall without getting 100% therefore losing a lot of your resources.
This makes the most sense to me. Make the town hall equal to a combined gold and elixer storage of the same level. Ie town hall 9 equal to a lvl 9 storage, and raise the loot cap to 250k.
players could still put town hall out, but they would lose up to 50k each for doing so instead of just 1000
