They aren't going to lose all their gemmers from this by a long shot. Masters through champions league is filled with gemmed bases.

everyone and you can test it yourself. Visit a base that you can revenge, when you return you will not be able to revenge it for two minutes.

Fair point, but that's just readjusting the game balance. Maybe this is a sign of level 7 troops to come?

    - Cheap shielding is gone.
No it isn't; it just got harder.

I can adapt to all of these changes, but some might not be able to. Some of the changes had zero impact to me, while it was clearly too much for many others. What really rises it's ugly head, once again, is the reaction of the community.
You don't like our post update fun?

I'm guessing not overly many here ware affected negatively with the top dogs' changes. Tier1 attackers and cheap shielders were the ones affected most. Many see the cheap shielding as a h.a.c.k, yet it was all allowed and ok, up until now. Sure, I agree it's not showing overly much sportsmanship to have friends/own alt accounts give a shield every time. Yet it took a hell of a lot MONEY from many people to achieve what they did: rise to top #10 in the world. Money and huge amounts of time and effort.
This doesn't change the fact that what they were doing was wrong, nor does it make me any more sympathetic to what just happened to them. What about all of those players who spent $1000s on their max bases only to stall at 3400 (or wherever) because they ran out bases to attack because of this? They were the real losers in all of this, and now they will finally have a better chance. I'm not going to go as far as to condemn top players for what they did (even though I view it as wrong), partially because SC themselves haven't condemned it. There are no punishments being handed down, they just took away the exploit (partially).

I'm not trying to diminish their accomplishments either, just trying to stick up for those who got to the leaderboards without using such tactics.

Now, it's easy to laugh at other people's misfortune like this. I feel sad for the people, who had their #1 hobby, competing in CoC (you really can't have time for anything else otherwise) the way they did, pulled a rug under their feet and then most pointing fingers and laughing at them.
"Misfortune"? No, they brought this on themselves. They chose to resort to such tactics, and when those tactics were nerfed, they threaten to quit. Again, it isn't even so much that they used those tactics as it is that they refuse to acknowledge their negative effects and make all these claims that they are somehow being slighted. It's nonsense; they just have to change their tactics and fight on a more level playing field.

Not just the top dogs, but some others were affected with the update in a way, that it killed the joy from the game. In a way, I'm one of them, who isn't looking overly much forward where the game takes us.
Everybody is affected by every update. The only question is to what degree those changes impact you and whether or not you feel that you can adapt to them.

I don't expect anyone to change their minds about this topic. I know this post will also get trolled. But maybe few gets a hint of what I'm talking about. I'm not looking for sympathy or empathy either, just tired of seeing people treated like s#it.

Clash on, or safe journey, where ever the road leads you.
I'm tired of seeing that too, but you are letting one side off the hook while going after the other. Both sides have people that are acting like babies, but they also have people who aren't. Trolls deserve to get trolled and they often do, but the people who are making rational arguments about this (on both sides) have largely come out unscathed.

    Couldn't agree more

How much concern did they give for the rest of the players by using jailbroken devices, che@ts, h@cks, and exploits to make a mockery of the leader board and remove any sense of fair play? It's clear not much, because when SC (finally after months of complaints) took measures to stop it, a number of them picked up all of their marbles and went home.

Also, what of the other players who also spent a lot of time and money to attempt to play the game fairly? Lastly, even for those who don't compete at that level, how many players' game play experience was tarnished by knowing of the shenanigans going on up there?

No, they deserve every bit of the scorn and mockery they are receiving.
Agree completely with all of the above.

Working hard at something does not give you a free pass. The action of working hard is not something to be celebrated. Serial murders work hard at planning their nefarious crimes and at hiding their victim's bodies and avoiding capture. Terrorist work hard at training their evil plans on the innocent. Adulterers work hard at hiding their actions from their spouses.

Working hard at ♥♥♥♥♥ing a system so that you can be the Kim Kardashian (someone who become famous simply for being famous) of CoC does nothing but break the game at the highest levels and hurt the game as a whole.

Thankfully, now we might be able to see some more actual game play in the higher ranges

How on earth has remving an opportunity to ch3at removed the joy from the game? How exactly do you derive 'joy' from getting a mini or friend to give you a manipulated shield so nobody ever attacks you in an effort to get cups off you?

I'm more than happy at the direction the game is taking, stopping abuses at the top and making tier one armies more unpredictable. You will need to pay more attention to where traps might be and attack more skillfully.

Nobody has been treated badly, stop being so melodramatic.
    Exactly!!!!!!!!!!

This what shows up for two minutes after I visit a base and then try and revenge them if they are not online or have a shield. I am at about 2500 cups so I thought it was the same for all cup levels not just champ.

Update arrived. Some anticipated stuff arrived, some did not. Many happy players, many unhappy players.

A gamechanger for sure for many people.

I first though, that most of the updated stuff was going to make me enjoy the game the game more. Sure, most changes were improving the game, but the impact on the game when looking at the bigger picture did in many points just the opposite.

    - Now there are countless sinks for resources, so farming took a hit.
    - Bombs in their own will make tier1 armies (and air armies) far less effective.
    - Cheap shielding is gone.

Firstly, good post with a well written argument OJM. The whole cheap shield issue is very sensitive - while it was an exploit and it wasn't very sportsman like, it did require a lot of effort (and money) to achieve. I'm sure most would agree that it was a dirty tactic. It gave other players without such advantages a very hard time. Bases up at 3400+ became so scarce that the matchmaking system would resort to going as low as 2800 just to find an unshielded base. IMO, that is proof that it got very out of hand.

I feel like the cleansing of the leaderboards will only have a beneficial effect - those who put the most effort (and money) into it can get no.1 without the annoyances of having to deal with the cheap shield effect. We shouldn't be feeling sorry for the players who spent thousands getting their second accounts to champions. They paid for it, they had the enjoyment of getting high up in the leaderboards - an enjoyment that other players didn't have and couldn't have.

It's not like SC has banned them or prevented them from progressing. Currently it is perfectly fair - they are in no way disadvantaged so I see no reason for them to quit. Perhaps the effort of playing the game like the others is too much, in which case, the no.1 spot will be held by someone who truly deserves it.

There were trap upgrades too. Personally, I think that's the major reason as to why loot has taken such a hit post update.
