    What just happened?

<4 mods>This post will cover multiple issues at once, so I'm hoping it wouldn't be merged/moved anywhere as it would surely go off topic/wrong area elsewhere, mmkay?</4 mods>

Update arrived. Some anticipated stuff arrived, some did not. Many happy players, many unhappy players.

A gamechanger for sure for many people.

I first though, that most of the updated stuff was going to make me enjoy the game the game more. Sure, most changes were improving the game, but the impact on the game when looking at the bigger picture did in many points just the opposite.

    - Now there are countless sinks for resources, so farming took a hit.
    - Bombs in their own will make tier1 armies (and air armies) far less effective.
    - Cheap shielding is gone.

I can adapt to all of these changes, but some might not be able to. Some of the changes had zero impact to me, while it was clearly too much for many others. What really rises it's ugly head, once again, is the reaction of the community.

I'm guessing not overly many here ware affected negatively with the top dogs' changes. Tier1 attackers and cheap shielders were the ones affected most. Many see the cheap shielding as a h.a.c.k, yet it was all allowed and ok, up until now. Sure, I agree it's not showing overly much sportsmanship to have friends/own alt accounts give a shield every time. Yet it took a hell of a lot MONEY from many people to achieve what they did: rise to top #10 in the world. Money and huge amounts of time and effort.

Now, it's easy to laugh at other people's misfortune like this. I feel sad for the people, who had their #1 hobby, competing in CoC (you really can't have time for anything else otherwise) the way they did, pulled a rug under their feet and then most pointing fingers and laughing at them.

Not just the top dogs, but some others were affected with the update in a way, that it killed the joy from the game. In a way, I'm one of them, who isn't looking overly much forward where the game takes us.

I don't expect anyone to change their minds about this topic. I know this post will also get trolled. But maybe few gets a hint of what I'm talking about. I'm not looking for sympathy or empathy either, just tired of seeing people treated like s#it.

Clash on, or safe journey, where ever the road leads you.

As a person who rarely uses spells and have no exiler to spend on (gemmed goblin lvl6), i love how the spell is making my exiler make good use. Thats a plus for me.

Traps, are awesome. Its definitely a different game now, takes searching for tombstones while farming/hunting a lot more into consideration. The game got more hard/difficult in just one update. I am also suffering from farming villages the usual way, I tried many different army combos. The end result: Im actually having fun again. The difficult bar just went way hard for resources. Right now, balloon and minions are still working for me. I tried half hogs and half giants, but now quickly relies on heal spells. I adapted balloon and minions by limiting the number of minions into dropping a small groups at a time.

cheap shielding: I do feel bad for the top dogs of CoC, that is truly a lot of effort/money wasted but at the same time, they already got what they paid for which is entertainment. There is an imaginary line of doing things for entertainment (time killing, invested on time for self pleasure) and doing things for fame (the feels of being high up, social aspect within the game, the pressure itself). The fame aspect that they seek is crushed, and now became an even more struggle to be at the top. There is only one solution, adapt and keep conquering (base on the circumstances which in this case no cheap shielding) then later everything will balance out as it was before (those who put the time and effort will be still at the top) .

They can still compete, they are just unable to ch3at whilst doing it.

The best and most active will still be at the top of the leaderboards.

How on earth has remving an opportunity to ch3at removed the joy from the game? How exactly do you derive 'joy' from getting a mini or friend to give you a manipulated shield so nobody ever attacks you in an effort to get cups off you?

I'm more than happy at the direction the game is taking, stopping abuses at the top and making tier one armies more unpredictable. You will need to pay more attention to where traps might be and attack more skillfully.

Nobody has been treated badly, stop being so melodramatic.

I expect that most experienced players have at some point been in this situation, i.e. feel like SC just ruined their game... irrespective of the individual game focus..

However the response, regardless of the actual situation is, always has been, always will be, the same....

Dig Deep and adapt or move on...

The forum should be a place where people can come and vent their frustration and i agree that we shouldnt be "laughing" at the people who are feeling hurt, betrayed... whatever emotion it may be they are felling, as long as they are respectful and post in a constructive manner.

However, when as we have been seeing, those currently affected by the Cheap Shields, saying things like ... "You dont know what its like..." ... I refer these people back to the top of my post... Farmer / Trophy Hunters have one thing in common SC like to keep us on our toes and they do this by evolving their game.

If that is all you want,
You can just include it in your every rant,
Sure, i pity those whom this update is affecting,
Can't imagine how they can continue living.

    I agree with the mentality

Though I most certainly agree with closing up the cheep shield loop hole (I'm sure they can figure out something similar) - I do agree about the general perceptions and how people interact with one another.

I like polite respectful discussions about tactics, troop strength, etc. But bashing back and forth, calling names, and general ugliness has made the community much less pleasant of late. Its been better than when the hog "wars" where in full force but the attitude between farmers and gemmers is still around.

Personally I have no issue with gemmers. They pay for a game I have spent very little money on (I did buy myself some builders). Being a farmer I think there are plenty of things we do that can be frowned on just as much as what people grip about in relation to gemmers

    For example:
    1) The sense we are entitled to abandoned bases (allot of people seem to think that there owed easy loot rich battles)
(This is not to be confused with the discussion about the loot problem in general)

    2) Purposely and intentionally manipulating our trophy counts to pick on weaker players (I am guilty of this as well)

    3) The fact we purposely throw out TH outside our walls for (guess what) a cheap shield (also guilty, very much so on this one)

As I indicate I am guilty of what some players would call "cheap" tactics. I am not terrible about manipulating my trophy count but I have been abusing a cheap shield for months now. Because I don't invest in my TH's defense I am not on the market for a skilled player to properly raid me - thus I sit in relative safety. I can go weeks without a significant (farming wise) loss due to this.

    Very nice post

Can someone explain to me how the cheap shielding was removed?
