I used level 4 hogs upto 2600 (a week before update) then switched to balloon minions up to 2846

level 4 hogs can 100% any th9 with heal spells unless they have maxed giant bomb with correct placement. Skill and right choice of bases is the key here.

Thanks for the tip. Would level 4 hogs work just as well with rage spells instead of heals?

no because they are fast, with rage they will go out of the rage circle pretty fast so it would be a waste. However, when attacking xbows and infernos (in a compact core) hogs tend to take longer cause of these defenses high HP. so a rage combined with heal spell is the best there
