Now, I am calculating all these assuming cost of ingredients at max price and also assuming you are selling them for max sell price. I will also show you in 1 hour just how many feeds each type you are able to produce and $$ from it.

    Side note:
One thing that is flawed with the various spreadsheets that are around this forum is that it does not show increment of value vs units. SC does a thing that when you sell in bulk, you get extra $$, that changes the calculations off completely. Dont anybody ever noticed that?

Example: 1 unit of chicken feed is 7g, 10 unit technically should be 70g but 10 units of chicken feed at max price sells for 72g. Same thing goes for CoW feed. 10 units should be 140g but in fact sells for 144g.

And the spreadsheet by nizerifin recorded that chicken feed at 7g per unit is 84$/hr? Where does that even come from? So that player only sells 11 chicken feed per hour? That does not even average out. Somebody makes sense of that to me because i am not seeing it, seriously.

The below calculation assumes the feed mill has already achieved a TWO starred rating (10%- based time)

    terms:
net profit (the $ you get after minus cost off $$ earned)

    Materials to produce various feeds:
    1 stack = 10 unit

    Wheat: 36g per stack
    soybeans: 108g per stack
    carrot: 72g per stack
    corn: 72g per stack
    CHICKEN FEED
    Chicken feed $/u: 7g
3x chicken feed: 21g (max sell price)
cost of ingredients: 2 wheat and 1 corn for 3 units (14g)
net profit per 3 unit of chicken feed: 7g
time to produce: 4 minutes (63 sec per unit)
total able to produce in 1 hr: 45 units (3 1/2 stack)
    profit per hour: 323g
    net profit per hour: 107g
(cost for 45 units of feed is 216g, thats 30 wheat and 14 corn used)

    COW FEED
    Cow feed $/u: 14g
    3x cow feed: 43g
cost of ingredients: 1 corn and 2 soybeans (21g)
net profit per 3 unit of cow feed: 22g
time to produce: 9 minutes (3 mins per unit)
units able to produce in 1 hr: 20 units
    profit per hour: 288g
    net profit per hour: 87g

    SHEEP FEED
    Sheep feed $/u: 14g
    3x sheep feed: 43g
cost of ingredients: 3 wheat and 1 soybean (20g)
net profit per 3 unit of sheep feed: 12g
time to produce: 27 minutes (9 per feed)
units produced in 1 hr: 6 units
    profit per hour: 86g
    net profit per hour: 44g

    PIGS FEED
    pig's feed $/u: 14g
    3x pigs feed: 43g
cost of ingredients: 2 carrot and 1 soybean (24g)
net profit per 3 unit of pig's feed: 13g
time to produce: 18 minutes (6 minutes per unit)
units produced in 1 hr: 10 units
    profit per hour: 144g
    net profit per hour: 76g

    GOATS FEED
    goat's feed $/u: 14g
    3x goat's feed: 43g
cost of ingredients: 1 wheat, 1 corn and 2 carrot (24g)
net profit per 3 units of goat's feed: 19g
time to produce: 36 minutes (12 minutes per unit)
units produced in 1 hr: 5 units
    profit per hour: 71g
    net profit per hour: 31g

So, from the breakdown that i did, this is counting the increment of $$ by bulk based on the actual price in the game, if you want to go for mastery, it is of course to just make goat's feed. BUT, if you want to make a profit while still raising your mastery albeit slowly, the go to is chicken feed.

ok so its like almost 3 am. i think this should be right. let me know if there's discrepancies.

Lol. I also became curious at one point. This is what you can do. Go the global boat leader board and visit the farms of those in the top 10. If I recall correctly there are 3 farms with the mills mastered.

However, since you mentioned you'll accept advice, here's what works for me (I'm down to my last few hundred hours until my last mill mastery, oh yeah, at level 80...ugh!)

I debated with with your same issue, but here is one thing the math (may) not take into consideration...how well will your product sell??? I mean, yes, you can make a ton of goat feed but the max price is the same as the cow (never knew why, but it is what it is). If someone is active on their farm with full a complement of barn animals, that means 15 sacks of cow feed each hour. As opposed to the goats which are what- every 8 hours. Plus, milk is the base product for so many other things that are needed constantly. (Oh cripes, that sounds like one of those dreaded "if the train A leaves the station @...and train B leaves the station@) - not going there!

So, what works for me: if I have time to tend the farm a lot, I produce egg and cow feed constantly (also what I personally need for my all my animals). If it's a time I know I'll be away from the iPad for awhile, I'll put in the longer duration feed which hopefully takes until I get back on line- so the mills keep turning toward that magical, far off number.

Also, all feed seems to sell well in the DD. However the players just starting out really need the chicken and cow feed, so I think selling that really helps them. I sell it all in increments of 5 (except chicken) because buyers barns are limited and there's 5 animals to a pen. Chicken feed I usually sell in increments of 6, since the max chickens per pen is 6.

I'm sure they'll be many more answers to your dilemma that will definitely help. As I said, this is what has worked for me.

    Good Luck!

    Great reply!

Was basically gonna say the same thing about goat and cow feed being the same price. Feed all cost 144 coins per stack except chicken feed that's 72 coins. So for best profit, keep making chicken and/or cow feed when you can and make pig/sheep/goat feed depending on how long you'll be away from your farm. Load goat feed before going to sleep.

Mzmflo - WOW! Reading all of that made my head hurt! LOL. Quite impressive!

All I know is that I am at level 64 right now and I have two stars on my mills and I am at 2780 hrs of the needed 5880 to get the third star. A little less than half way. I wonder what level I will be at when I finally get that third star? And how many ugly topiary I will have in storage by that time?

I make feed non-stop and sell lots of chicken and cow feed. That is why my farm is called WAL-FARM DISCOUNT FEED
(I sell over default but under max)

Thats basically all I sell. It's the only thing I have an abundance of. I rarely ever have more than 10 of any item in my barn since I'm always filling truck and boat orders.

I saw a picture someone took of what is in their barn and they had 84 Strawberry cakes. I can't even imagine!

Sorry. If it was too much to compute, all you guys need to know is read the last line for every type of feed. The net profit i bolded and underlined. Thats all you guys need to know. Chicken feed sells

p.s: i find it amusing even after my post with the crunched numbers in cold hard facts what feed will profit the most, i still see subsequent posts advising the OP to make stuff like goats feed lol

you can only produce 5 goats feed in ONE hour with a profit of 31g even if you are going to sleep or be away.......... Tl;dr, load your slots with chicken feed even when asleep or away for a very long time.

I still do this to this day - it makes coins and racks up the hours for your mastery, and you don't need a calculator or maths... Obviously, it depends upon your own playing time...

Max up your slots on both machines as soon as you can, this is important... Keep making both chicken and cow feed (in their own machines) all day up to about 5 or 6pm -then start making your pig and sheep feed (again, in their own machines) for a couple of hours until you have enough of these for the next days feeding... Then just before you go to sleep, fill up both of your machines with goat food, as this is the longest production time feed and will gradually add up those hours for you... You might need to juggle the times to suit...

You'll find all that excess chicken and cow feed will sell in seconds at max price... The trick to making this work is to keep enough stock to feed all your animals at least twice, more if possible, but it depends upon your silo and barn space... Once you get into the routine, it's very easy to manage and maintain, and you will very rarely run out of feed...

Although your breakdown is very detailed and well calculated, I don't agree with the net profit. I do think it's a nice touch that you included the price of the crops needed to make the the feeds which of course takes away more for the profit the more "advanced" feed you make. However, this also means your calculations on profit is totally irrelevent for those that DON'T buy their crops full price to make feed. If you grow your own crops, they're all essentially free which means the profit for all feeds (except chicken) has the same profit in that aspect.

The OP's question is how to make the biggest profit while STILL working towards his mastery. In that sense, it's more benefitial to make ANY FEED ASIDE FROM CHICKEN before going to sleep as chicken will make the machine idle the quickest (making the least progress towards mastery) and bringing in the least profit when selling the feed in the morning.

Assuming 9 queue slots are open on both feed mills:
    18 slots x 3 feed = 54 feed

    Chicken feed:
    stack price (x10) = 72 coins
    single price (x1) = 7 coins
    Profit: 5x72+4x7 = 388 coins

    Cow/Pig/Sheep/Goat feed:
    stack price (x10) = 144 coins
    single price (x1) = 14 coins
    Profit: 5x144+4x14 = 776 coins

Why is your advice that it's best to just stick to chicken feed?
