Jenheifer: The new events that Nick referred to are just that..."new" events that have just been added to the list of already existing events.

    Already existing events:

    Double coins on truck orders
Double coins and vouchers on boat orders ---- this is the one which we are currently enjoying.
Double coins for goods sold to the little people

New events (that we know of so far) that will be announced by the mayor (who shows only as a face on the event board):

Global events --- you earn rewards for each of 5 levels of the event that you personally participate in, plus an additional award if the global event is reached due to the contribution of all players who have participated. Examples have been the recent bacon & eggs and the pumpkin pies.

Fishing events --- we've not yet had any of these so don't know if they will be personal goals or global. You'll see shadows for the 4 new fish that will be part of these events in the back of your fishing diary.

So, this event is an already existing event that we've had numerous times. It is not included with the Mayor announced new ones.

As for the "big picture", it's exactly as it was announced to be...new events added to existing events to give players more variety and more opportunities to earn rewards. SC is mixing the old events with the new (Mayoral) events to complete the big picture they promised.

I hope this clears things up for you.

To reiterate: The current event is NOT one of the new ones mentioned by Nick, hence no Mayor. It is a PREEXISTING event that has been part of Hay Day for a long time. The consistency you are concerned about is quite solid.

I agree, they seem to do nothing for the community or the individual, unless perhaps if you are the 'one with the most', they of course annoy other players who can not understand how such a Huge number can be accumulated. But, each to their own...

We loved the double voucher boat event a lot more when we were still chasing pets, but we still like that our neighbors who fill crates for us get double coins -- especially when an early boat I had was 6 crates x 17 popcorn and 32 crates x 4 syrups! Normally I would do all the popcorn myself, but that one even wiped ME out!! I had to ask for help on 2 crates of popcorn. THE SHAME!!! ha ha ha

Actually the events do benefit both the individual AND the community. The individual receives the awards for their individual participation plus everyone gets the final reward if the goal is reach, even if the individual only went as far as the first level. That's pretty good benefits from any angle.

As for only benefiting the "one with the most", they receive absolutely nothing more than what is earned by everyone else. They choose to continue after they've earned all the awards possible for their own desire to either master a challenge or help insure that the goal is reached so everyone can earn a prize. That's pretty unselfish in my book. If they manage to accumulate huge numbers, good for them for showing such determination and motivation.

Anyone who is "annoyed" that someone else is able to achieve something they cannot understand has the issues and not "the one with the most". Even if it was discovered that nefarious means were employed to get such huge numbers, how does that affect anyone else? It doesn't, so folks should look to their own actions and deeds and stop trying to find the worst out of another's success, and let the Moderators and SC Staff decide if it's above board or not.

On further reflection, the "one with the most" actually does earn something other users don't...the mistrust, scorn, rumors, scandal, jealously, and ruined reputation caused by those who have no clue if that person has a huge barn from playing so long and had a large stash of items, used diamonds to speed up, had help from friends, or otherwise achieved their numbers through honest, if unusual, means. Why is it that every time someone does something out of the ordinary, there is always a group of very loud people insisting it was done suspiciously without any evidence or facts. Makes me wonder about these people more.

Agree with Cricks3 above (both posts)

Just want to add, the additional new global events give us XP every time we contribute the item needed. That is my main attraction to it. No other event does that. XP points, woohoo!!!! So, I believe it was a great addition and perhaps they did it because pre-global events players here were asking for events that award XP points.

    Yikes...!

I guess the way I was looking at the Mayor was all wrong! Hopefully now I'll know what to expect...

Mayor - B&E event (existing now)
Mayor - Pumpkin event (existing now)

So if the above events were to take place again, no Mayor? So he appears only when it's a NEW event. Thank you for your thoughtful explanation and correct clarification Cricks3.

Possible NEW fishing event, the Mayor makes an appearance. Future fishing events he doesn't appear, since it's not considered NEW any longer?

Variables would then have to change during all Mayoral events if they're to be considered NEW, since repeats would be preexisting, equalling no Mayor.

Should a bacon & eggs or pumpkin event return, the mayor will be involved. I hope you don't allow his presence or absence to drive you crazy.

Maybe easier to omit the words "new" or "existing" and just understand Nicks full explanation below since nothing will stay new forever.

    Full explanation Per Nick:

--New features: The mayor is introducing new events with awesome rewards--(they were new when Nick wrote this, not new anymore)
    • From now on the Mayor himself will request your help with new limited-time events that you will find on the event board. These events have 5 different stages that each trigger eggtastic rewards when completed. Completing an event level will also help contribute toward a collective community goal. Achieve it together and everybody will be handsomely rewarded.

    Highlight of explanation Per Nick:

"The mayor event will have 5 different stages that each trigger awards."
"Completing an event level will also help contribute toward a collective community goal."

That should help you decipher when to expect an appearance from the mayor.
