nah not a pain, five builders free. upgrading all the traps then gonna work on lvl12 archer tower.

The upgrade times are actually quite good. Anyway, just do them slowly over time.
There's no need to have max bombs on day 1, so work them into your upgrading schedule.
U wouldn't upgrade 1 Tesla tower and expect them all to be upgraded so why do you with bombs?
