1. Career TH9’s are an anathema to SC. Enough pleasure gained so that you can play freely for years is not a sustainable business model. Therefore th9 has to be a stepping stone, not a destination. So higher th’s must be appealing.
2. The key is gems. SC must create a culture of mariginal enjoyment that is enhanced with a series of purchases. Gems are the means to the ends.
3. The key to gems is DE. The DE based game elements are what separates the “free level” from the “premium level”. This update is a case in point:
(a) what troops were buffed? Lavas & golems (de based). (Ok, giants but seriously, read this thread and look for giants comments? None. They are doing as welll as the NY Giants.)
(B) What was nerfed? Miners (what was the best de gainer troop because you didn’t need de for a miner raid.)
(c) what are the best troops? Royalty, bowlers and followed closely by vals. All de based.
(d) what was the only troop to get new levels? Royalty (de based)
so we just made the mid way stopping point less desirable as noted by several other posters, just increased the demand for de, decreased the ease of obtaining it and that results in: increased pressure to gem. Which brings us back to money.
it wasn’t just watergate where “follow the money” was applicable.
