    Rushing Vs Maxing

As with the main base, you can play the BB any way you like. You aren't restricted to selecting one in particular, or really even sticking with the same one. You can max, you can rush, you can do some sort of hybrid. All play styles are equally available to you.

But like the pigs from the farm say, "Some Builder Base play styles are more equal than others." Or something like that.

If your goal is to climb trophies and progress as quickly as you can, gems or no gems, you need to rush. It's that simple. Higher BH levels provide more structures, defenses, and resource buildings, as well as having more troops and army camps available. You will find yourself able to climb in trophies much more quickly than if you stay at a lower-than-max level BH. A given maxed out BH will not defend as well or have the attack power to defeat a mediocre BH one level higher with all buildings available.

The key reason rushing is generally a bad idea in the main base is that you suffer a loot penalty in multiplayer when attacking weaker players. This drawback does not exist in the BB. Without that restriction, there is no logical reason to not allow yourself access to all possible troops and defenses. You absolutely have the option to max out your base. A max BH5 can beat out any other BH5 and even an early BH6, depending on the skill of both players. But you have to accept that you won't be able to progress as quickly as a player that rushes.

A question I'd like to ask is: "Is the best way to rush in BB to drop the new buildings then immediately try to level the BH?"

That's a good question. I would say no. But that has more to do with offense. If you want to get from BH1 to BH8 as soon as possible, the way I would do it is by staying at each BH and upgrade defenses for as long as it takes you to max out an army. That way, moving into the next BH, you'll always have a powerful army for attacking. You can't progress as a BH6 if you're still using BH3 troops. Spending that time upgrading defenses will make you a bit of a tougher target to take down as well

Just keep in mind that you won't make it to the top until you have the time to really max your defenses. The idea is that you'll have more trophies as a weak BH6 than you would as a maxing BH4. More trophies means more loot. More loot means faster progress.

You can hyper-rush, but it’s really something better done only by experienced players. The best rush for the B.B. is to ensure your defense is not more than 2 levels behind your current BH level; walls to level 4; and that you always have at least one maxed attack strategy. Battle Machine...minimum L5 by end of BH6, L10 by end of BH7.

You CAN rush faster but if you do so, you will likely unbalance your defense/offense which leads to an unpleasant experience for the typical player.
