This last ridiculous war pairing may have taken it out of our clan for good. You can see our matchup on the previous page. Just watched their no. 6 (a TH 11 by the way) just power potioned his way into 2 starring our no. 1 (TH 11 with a very solid defense). previously posted about a max th9 and lower non engineered clan war matched w a weakened def th11 hiding under their th9. Got the usual comments of “max th9 is asking for mismatch” from experienced posters. Yeah. No ****, but isn’t that the point of asking for matching improvements so max th only matches w a max th of similar rank? If someone is hiding a stronger offense w weak defense, it should automatically block them from matching with a clan possessing a th level lower. Just for fun on a boring weekend (since I can no longer expect a decent matchup in my clan) I put only some th7s and lower in a 10v10 war. Top 2 are roughly maxth7 w BK 5 for both. everything below is th7 w 2 6s and a 3 at the bottom. Sure ‘nough, we get matched with a clan w max th7 up top and a th8 at no2. Sure. The defense isn’t strong, but if you want to end engineered matchups make a th8 in war force a match with a clan posting at least an 8 in opponent. If a newb clan wanted to start now they will absolutely face engineered clans w stronger offenses hidden lower. It must be pretty difficult to put an initial weight on the max th being forced to be at least equal lvl. So. Hard. I know it will be a draw. No upset. Just wanted to see what would match up. war matching was ok for a while but for the past few weeks we've been going up vs nearly or more than double the th11s. we carry 2-3, and go up vs 5-7. i'm flattered the algo thinks we're capable of this, but it's tiring always facing and uphill battle and we could go for an equal or, gasp, even an advantage now and then. spirits are low putting in our all just to lose to people who don't have to put in half the effort.

in my opinion, the number of top th needs to be well matched. I know some of clans take long time to be matched. I assume they are using the engineered. But, for fairness, then number of th11 and th10 must be matched.

The other clans th 8 was pretty new. The th 6 and 3 was engineered. Probably with the purpose of allowing some extra strength at the top within the matchmaker algorithm.
All in all I wouldn't be alarmed about all this. It would just be a good challenging war. But when someone in Supercell also think it is a good idea to introduce power potion to the game - allowing the th 8 to have ridiculously high powered troops, that eliminates all questions about who is the better attacker - then I actually do feel I have a problem.
We have 15 stars in the war - the other side currently have 12. But I do not start the war search as some kind of lottery where sometimes all I can hope for is a draw.
