it is a common misconception that "just give me an option, it doesn't hurt anything" is a good practice. It isn't. It may seem that way to someone who took a junior college programming class and now thinks they know it all.
Unless the option is something in high demand which will truly improve the product, wise developers resist the temptation. I can think of a number of options I would like (which couldn't be home-brewed with a bit of tape) such as the ability to sort my troop/spell bar, not have a troop selected by default, always go to the event page instead of the news page, etc. Oh, and I want the option that makes the default settings for all of the pages and pages of options be my preferred settings, because the options everyone else wants are pointless, you know.
Just tell yourself the eyeball represents someone who is eager to learn from your attacks, and show them how it is done.
