Still no luck in catching golden Carp and Golden Giant barb. Zander and Sturgeon keep biting the lures...

I think i have a new record for the Carp, 13.672! I actually got it last time there was a board event, so I don't remember where I got it (I think it was in area 8, but it's a long time ago so I'm not sure). All I know is that I got it with a green lure, because I have never used a golden lure.

Congrats on that new record, you are the new top Carp catcher...

@Durian I would focus on your gold fishes now. I'm still catching the big ones because I'm still far from achieving Big Game Fisher, but this is obviously a great opportunity to get a lil closer.

Also, and because I like breaking things down. What the top contributors do is nice, but it helps next to zero regarding the global goal. It is us regular folk who make up for the most part. (top 10 contributors: maybe around 20,000 lbs...that is about 0.01% of the required amount).

John, really? You plan on sleeping tonight, tsk tsk. No seriously, this is just a game, but I too had become such an eager beaver to complete them all since it didnt work out last time around. Now I have them under my belt and I'm happy especially given I have not been so lucky with the regualr fish as of yet, but I haven't tried really hard. That is my net goal...speckled daze etc.

Hi Cindi,

I believe your question is right on the money! In my experience, I've noticed that it's not necessarily the size of the inner circle, it's how the outer ring is slower coming in- which coincides with the slower reel sound. It's not tremendous, but once you recognize it a few times, you'll know it. In fact, I stopped looking at the inner circle and now base all my judgement for the "keepers" on the sound.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that this slower outside circle information relates only to the "big" fish offered during the event. If you're looking for the prized "normal" fish, use the smaller inner circle advise many have shared...

Thanks! Thought I'd remembered something about the sound. Last fish event I caught all the Lake Sturgeon weights, bronze and silver Giant Barb and Zander, but no Carp. So far this time I've caught the bronze Carp, a couple bronze Barb and Zander, and one bronze Lake Sturgeon. Weights have gotten me 100 lbs. from final goal so I'm doing okay with that, but--gosh--it's taken me as long as 30 minutes per fish! Is that typical? Seems mine slip the hook very, very often.

That Zander fish is becoming very annoying!!
I need to catch a gold Carp, but it doesn't matter in which spot I through my green lure the only fish that I catch is the Zander.
I think I caught today alone already 8 Zander'.
Does anyone has an idea if and how we can tell the difference between a Zander and a Carp when we hook them?
