Thanks for making this post available. I’m at a point at bh7 that all my troops are level 10 and above. My bm is currently upgrading to level 7 and have been wondering if I should keep him on constant upgrade, or switch back and forth between bm, and troops. As I am not a trophy pusher I think I may upgrade bm to level 10 before reverting back to troops. Thanks again for the upgrade guide it’s very helpful 👍.

If you are only using one troop combo it make sense to upgrade the BM as that will continually provide marginal improvements to your main army. My BM is 18 and I'll be upgrading him to 19 tomorrow when I have the loot and will then upgrade him 5 days later when I have the loot to finish him off. At that point I'll cycle back to troops. Like you I use Drop Minions both 14 almost exclusively. Those I am finding on some bases L14 Witches mixed in get better results.

If you don't want to attack through a steady stream of upgrading the BM, alternate BM/Lab with elixir.

But I think the goal is to have BM20 by the end of March in anticipation of the BH8 release sometime after Q1 is over.

Thanks Klavious, I also have level 14 dark witches at my disposal. I’ll give it shot keeping the battle machine on constant upgrade. Maybe it’ll help hone my skills not have him for a while.

I just realized clan games are coming this weekend and don't want to be without my BM.
I'll be back on the BM upgrade train early next week.
It's easier to win without the BM than you think. Of course it's easier when you have him to tank or pick up percentage but it's not too bad without him in the low 4K range. Like 4200 - 4400 so you have a cushion for the unexpected losing streak.

You have at least 2.5 months to work on troops and the BM. You need about a month of builder time to get from where you are at currently to BM20, and a little bit longer with getting the loot for each upgrade. I would work Th euograde straight through until there is an event or some other reason to hold on to the BM, the. Switch to a troop and switch back when the event is over or you’ve met the requirements of the event.

For example - this weekend is Clan Games, so you would do best to put your resources into a troop upgrade and keep the BM up. However, I would use the resources from this weekend to start another upgrade Monday.

That said, once you get into the home stretch, the cost of the upgrades is substantial. You may well be able to complete the event AND be short enough on resources that it make sense to hold off on troop upgrades and save. At that point, I would just focus on the BM.

This all assumes that you’ve completed all of your defenses and the like, of course. If you still need to get buildings to max, then I would alternate o building, troop, BM (repeat).

Thanks Noc that is good advice. My plan is just what you suggested in the beginning of my battle machine grind I plan to upgrade defenses, walls if I need to use up gold while I wait to fill elixir again.

I am SO happy BH8 is about to hit. I’m already working on new content outlines for the YouTube channel, articles for the blog, base designs, upgrade guide, army comps, and I’m even going to try a livestream of the upgrade. I’ll be adding a whole new section to the helpful guides and strategies section here on the forum. I have my main game (Noctaire) full-up with resources so when it drops I can start working it all up.
