I think it is decently balanced at TH11 right now.
I think changing it to a 2 housing space spell with 20 cloned troops would be interesting. 10's would probably use it more often.
If you are worried about not being able to clone something over 20 spaces maybe it could be stacked to clone something over 20.
This could also make for more surgical attacks by cloning is different spots.
One of the things I don't like about current clone spell is sometimes I clone a lava hound mistakenly.

Agree with this completely. Right now, some of the easiest TH10 and TH11 3 star strategies involve clone, sometimes 2 clone (on TH11 ones). With drags and loons clone is very powerful now, if reduced you may as well say goodbye to TH10 and TH11 3* rate being reasonably low.

There is no denying that it is the least used spell. League play clans may very well use it, but as a max 11, I have never used it once, nor have I ever seen it used in any wars or farm attacks against me, ever. To me, that is evidence enough.
Not saying whether or not it is a decent spell, just that it has got to be the least used.

Most my clan and certainly the 11's all use the clone spell in both farming and wars. I personally take 2 in every single attack, it is by far the most effective spell when used in combination with loons. There is no comparison with the other spells imo for effectiveness.
The reason the spell is perhaps not as widely used as some of the others is down to probably two factors:
1) Its high housing costs which puts players off using it let alone maxing it.
2) A lot of attacks at 11 are bo-witch attacks. Clone spell is best used with loons imo.
But make no mistake it is a powerful spell. If the housing space was reduced the forums would quickly be flooded with complaints.

3 is the right number because it would become viable for ground armies but the poison would need to be dropped from the comp to use it.
And only allow for 1 additional haste in air comps which for all but the most elite clashers are not using air except for the spam fingers crossed 2 star on top th11 bases. Most go for ground for the reliable 2
