Unfortunately, players who buy gems are looked down upon, just like the people who can afford to ride around in helicopters are looked down upon --for being shrewd enough in their life decisions to not have to follow the same path of those that have no clue what winning really is.

Do you know why gemmers tend to have higher cups? Well, let me tell ya, it's not because they bought em. They get a lot more practice than non-gemmers. Ya know why? They aren't sitting there trying to make friends while their troops build. While you're climbing the damn mountain (after all, you have nothing else to do as you listen to the tick tock of the echoing clock), their troops are building substantially faster than yours. Gemmers get to enjoy the game and gain pride in the success that comes from trying out the many troops combinations. What are nongemmers doing? Well, like me, I get to wait, wait, wait, and wait. Do you think I haphazardly chose to use the word four times?

Buy their way into the game!!! They raid for what they have!

Ive played 3 months now. Gold grab is 259 million. Ive also spent about 500-600 bucks or so and plan on spending more. Dont think anyone can bash or should say anything to anyone about how they choose to play/pay or not pay. But those that bash gemmers just for the sake of bashing them are just jealous and are playing a free game on our backs.

The guy that got to the top of the mountain in new gear and a helicopter, still had to work hard for his gear and that shiny helicopter. Think about that.
    blah blah blah.

I suspect one of the reasons gemmers get defensive about their usage of gems is because they get this type of backlash from it. There hasn't been one single farming clan that I've been to where players will look down upon someone who uses gems. There hasn't been a conversation that ends in a positive mood when it comes to accusing or pointing out that the said player is gemming. They are somehow placed as the black sheep when it comes to farming clans. That is why if I think people are gemming I don't ask them if they're doing so I just keep it to myself. If they're discussing how hard it is to work on walls when they're gemming them I don't get annoyed but it does bother me that there's some type of 1950's segregation that goes on in CoC between gemmers and farmers. The way I see it, if they're gemming they're helping out the clan by upgrading their troops and building their base quicker and stronger which is useful when the clan is trophy pushing. It's a win-win situation.

Next time they're trying to sympathize with you just ignore it, it just causes drama in the chat and it put everyone in an uncomfortable situation especially since I'm sure said player isn't the only one gemming. Also, your comments are indirectly going out to everyone else in the clan that uses them and even though they might not be as high gemmers as the player in question, they're still using them. This causes people to either respond back in anger or leave the clan which starts a domino effect of other people leaving. It ends up being a lose-lose situation over an unnecessary topic.

The topic of gemming should be on the list of unspeakable topics in the clan chat since it never end up well.

All they're trying to do is join a clan, have fun and intelligible or silly conversations and just shoot the sh*t.

Do i buy gems every once in awhile? Yes. Could I be classified as a gemmer? Possibly by some people's definitions. I buy gem mostly just to speed up builders when I have full storages, or to gem troop upgrades at the beginning of a TH. (I.E Barbs and Archers) I am very much a farmer, I started mid-late July and am a maxed th8 who recently upgraded to th9. As my signature states, I've farmed over 200 million gold since the profile update. I have no problem with gemmers, as if I had the cash, I would spend it on something I love too.

Gemmers really miss out on the journey, they're too distracted by the destination.

You labor on a game for walls. They labor in real life for money to spend on the walls. I see no problem.

Maybe they have an actual destination outside of the game and they don't have time for the CoC journey. I mean, that money they're using doesn't just magically appear.

I don't want to delve into this too much, but what I think is not being mentioned too much is that these are people too. They aren't committing a crime or doing anything wrong, they just do something a little differently than how you do things. As you said, this guy is a good donator and a nice chatter. Leave him and the gemmers be. Let them do as they please and do what you want to do.
