As long as they gain 60 or so trophies in 8 hours that would be irrelevant. Play for 8 hours, get 3 starred and get a 16 hour shield, wait til the next day to attack for another 8 hours. That's how I went to crystal at th5 and worked fine. My guess is they search for a while to find a base they can 1 star (whether it's punching in to a TH or wiping 50%) and stay on for 8 hours straight. As long as they don't log off between each attack it's perfectly possible without ♥♥♥♥♥ing, albeit difficult and very time consuming. Nothing impossible about it, just improbable which is why it's a rarity.

That is so free and not based on fact.

If he is at 2500 T, he will be attacked by people in his range more often than revenges. So he will lose between 10-30T for 16hours shield.

Only if somebody camp him to revenge from 300-500 T bellow that he could lose 40-50 T and yet again he will get a 16 hours shield.

If he plays 8 hours each day, he can get back those Trophies, assuming he carefully chose his targets and doesn't run out of gold.

I've crushed a few TH7 and TH8 at 2200-2500 ranges. They are not just ♥♥♥♥♥ing.
