Town lets you use all of a crop

I'm sure most of you know already but it just happened to me for the first time. I fill town orders pretty quick and usually without really looking at what they want. I know that's probably not a best practice. But I just had a towny that wanted 75 corn and wouldn't ya know it that's exactly how many I had. I did notice it as I was swiping but to late. There was no warning that I was about to use all my corn (no I didn't have any planted). For a machine you get a warning and have to hit the green check to continue. I rely on DD for corn and never plant any and was no biggie. Luckily it was corn and not a rare crop that's hard to find in the DD. I just find it curious there's no warning for that.

Yeah I saw that there was no warning too. I fill orders quickly as well but I always try to glance over just to check if it is asking for a crop so I can make sure I don't give it all away. It's weird or maybe they just overlooked it.

I do not think this was an oversight by the Devs. People(town visitors) are not machines, per se, like the production machines and therefore cannot give warnings when you will use the last of your crops.
Let's say you pay your babysitter. He/She won't say "I see you will run out of money in your wallet if you give me the payment I desire.". They either take the payment without question or you send them on their way with promise to pay at a later time without consideration of your needs.
And so the same kind of goes for the town visitors. People, not machines.

I agree it may be by design and not an oversight. I'm not to sure this analogy works to explain why though. The whole people not machine idea is probably not why. It's game code. I see no reason why there's no prompt to alert us we are using the last of a crop.

Bumping this old thread because this issue still persists. I would have thought that the town UI improvements would have changed it. It's a simple fix, as a confirmatiom dialogue already exists for trucks and boats. It can be a major annoyance and it's the sort of thing that should not happen. If my boats and trucks ask for conformation, why can my town not do so as well?

You might try this in the idea forum - the developers are more likely to see it there
