    4. i don't need to waste time searching for villages (if i see active DE base, i light it, if i see abandoned collect base i bam it, simple.

think about it. even IF u were able to farm 4k de per hour. how much time and cost to train those armies? is it worth it? do u need that much?

i do it because i don't need THAT much, in the past several gem boost days i made more than 50,000 just lightening, no work involved and also made enough to level my heros. my lab is busy doing something else
30 minutes for an army, 100k elexir. I prefer fully focusing on DE Hunting so that I can quickly move on to gold farming rather than doing both at the same time.

O hey, that seems very good, only 100k and 30 min for 4k dark.

I didnt really took the time to compare the two strategy and see which is more efficient, but seems like yours is pretty good

    Whatever works is good

but have been doing it non-stop during this update

but i don't see a big difference, it doesn't cost more to make, it is just faster, so u make DE at faster intervals.

the spell boost is so fast that i don't even have time to keep using it
Its not just faster. Its 4x faster n many times cheaper.

I agree that if lightning is a problem that's the penalty for lowering cups. I lost a lot yesterday but I know I could limit them seriously if I raised my cups. I used to do it at TH7 until I realised how much quicker it was to raid it conventionally.

So a near max th10 comes down to gold, smashing and pillaging all the smaller, weaker bases. Says "if you want de you should build an army and take it, not lightning bolt it. Thats cheap"! And continues on his way smashing the weak bases around him with his level 6 troops.... Im sorry but go back up to crystal and beyond to avoid it. I cant blame th7s for bolting you th9-10s. They log on to smashed villages and its all they can do back.

Nothing wrong with 3 x "Thor" lightning spells.

I do it all the time and especially love doing it to well stocked DE containers.

Thanks for posting and discussing, everyone. Some real good points you people bring up.
I have somethings I want to point out though.
Some of you say that Townhall 7s (like me) are cowards for using lightning instead of going in with troops and stealing it "fairly". The thing here is, and I know lots of other Townhall 7s would agree, we can't go in and steal it "fairly" most of the time. Level 4 troops don't go so well with flaming mortars, level 8 walls, xbows, etc. If you are a Townhall 7 that doesn't want to go to crystal every time you want to get DE, lightning is the most efficient way to get dark elixir. I agree, it could be seen as a coward move, but the point of this game (for me) isn't about being brave. It's about building my base as much as I can, and cheap tactics give me just that.

I'm not particularly moved by the name-calling. The same people calling others cowards are same people who would just assume destroy your base as look at you. In fact, I find a bit of underdog admiration for those that manage to rightfully operate under the rules and get under the skin of those that don't like it. I say follow the rules and win.
