    unless... the data / revenue / forecast models (which noone here has any clue about) shows a negative effect on profit.

    how many players deliberately advance their base beyond this -1 idea on purpose for war only ("engineers"), vs how many do it unintentionally ("casuals")
    and which group has the potential to generate profit with the current system.
    and which group has the potential to decrease profit with a new system.

    i think thats the only thing that matters.
    if it was truly so simple... would it have been done years ago?

    Agreed. This is the ultimate decider of whats a good or bad idea and doesn't always align with what players want. Im sure many ideas would make wars much more fair for all that SC just will never implement.

    Pretty simple question. Is SC a very smart, well run, big data using business carefully making game affecting decisions based upon sophisticated models designed to maximize the long term games profit ... or... a clueless bunch of people who got lucky and have no idea what to do now?

    But if the advantage in wars was not there, would so many advance their th in this manner? They would still play, but build the defences to play on a level playing field.

    Probably a bit of both to be honest.But I certainly wouldn't use the word clueless.Id be more inclined to say a humble bunch of people if Darian is an example who yes got extremely lucky and are doing their best to please millions.Not everybody will agree with every decision now will they.Clueless though does sound a lil harsh a word to use in my opinion.

    of course they would. perhaps just not as much deliberately. i can drop my th11 down into lower leagues and see tons of the craziest bases imaginable.
    and not in a good way.

    th8 defenses with eagles / infernos, level 10 heros.
    think of all the "crappiest" combination of defenses/troops/heros bases you can imagine, and would never let in your clan
    they are all over the place. and they are in clans.
    those guy's clans would be slaughtered in any kind of th based system. (even a "-1")

    so once again, where does SC get their money from. none of us know. (or will ever know?)

    No you can't. Engineering is not done to exploit the MM. Aside from the obvious intent of the defenseless base, it is done to get fair matches. But even if you still see it as an exploit, that exploit can't be removed entirely. It's an inherent part of the game.

    Many are getting unfair matches, there is no denying that. And that became even more so since about 6 weeks ago. You are completely right that MM is screwed up.

    That said, we are not getting unfair matches. 17,960 clans that have 10 or higher win streak aren't having that problem. The bulk of the complaints I see here are coming from clans that are constantly getting unfair matches.

    You can make war match be more "fair", but you will never removed the necessity to have an engineered roster and a balanced base.

    One of the biggest blind spots the majority of people have is the belief that maxing as you move up the is way to do it. It isn't. THAT is why they are getting unfair matches. It's a mathematical axiom. You must go down the middle if you want good wars. You max your base, and wars will suck for you. Then you blame MM.

    I realize that SC can't give out how MM works, but man, it's not that hard to figure out.

    Our matches have gotten mostly better. We had some losses, but 1 was our fault outright for having too many noobs in to make a 40, one was against a modder & I'm sure we would have won if he hadn't modded & we weren't distracted by it. They only won by a few %. We lost the next due to a loss hangover. We were just bad the next war.

    Mostly, we've had tighter wars with exciting finishes. It's been a long time since we've all looked towards to the end on a regular bases.
