    Summary:
Dr. Kavan is the 2nd hero you encounter in your game and is an early Healer for your team. He works well with your team if you have similar ranges on your troops. At HQ 7 you have access to Riflemen, Heavys and Zookas so if you don't use a lot of Zookas you should be good to go with Dr. Kavan.

    Heroes Introduction:
Heroes launched within Boom Beach on March 20th of 2017. This included Sergeant Brick, Captain Everspark (I’ll go over her at a later time), the Hero Hut, the Trader, Trader Tickets and Hero Tokens. These heroes are only used for offense and unlike other troops are always ready for battle even if they died in the last one and require no currency to heal or revive. As of now they are also unusable on defense and won’t help your defenses defend your base against your opponents who wish to destroy your archipelago. Then a few months later in the Lonely Tribe Update released in on June 14th 2017 Dr. Kavan was brought to the game. To access your Heroes go to the Hero Hut further right of the Dock. (NOTE: You won’t have access to the Hero Hut until you are HQ level 4 or higher)

    Trader Information:
The Trader is a female who comes to your island once a week and stays for 2 days and 3 hours every time. She will arrive every week with a free Trader Crate and after that you can buy an additional one for 3 Trader Tickets each. These Trader Tickets are earned through Supply Chests Daily Rewards no matter your rank you will always get 1 and this is their only purpose. If Trader Chests don’t have your interest she will always have 3 random offers such as 100,000 Gold for 100,000 Wood. Trader Chests are also the only place where you are able to get Hero Tokens in the game at this time to upgrade your Hero’s abilities through the Hero Hut.

    Dr. Kavan Introduction:

Dr. Kavan is a tribal leader who cares deeply for his community going so far as to bring them back to life. To unlock Dr. Kavan you must defeat Hammerman’s Level 25 Base which you can have access to at HQ 7 or higher. Dr. Kavan doesn’t cater to a specific type of troop however, to use him most effectively you should have majority of your troops at a similar attack range. His special ability Galvanizing Presence reduces damage for the troops he is currently healing back up. Unlike Medics Dr. Kavan also heals himself when healing his allies.
rowman- Unlike the other two heroes, Dr. Kavan uses Medic movement logic. In particular, he does not respond to flares, nor does he go to some target. Rather, he follows troops. If he is alone (no other troops deployed) and a flare is dropped, he will simply stand still.

    Abilities:
The abilities will be listed here in the order in which they are to be unlocked, Crystal Critters, Ice Shields and finally Second Wind.

Ability 1 Crystal Critters: This ability is the first of which you unlock right with the Hero and unlike regular Critters these can heal any of your troops including Dr. Kavan. These little guys can be spawned three at a time starting with a Gunboat Energy of 8 and each additional use is 7 more than the last. Of course they won’t last forever even if they aren’t targeted as they are only robots after all.

Level Hero Level Needed Critters Deployed Upgrade Cost (Hero Token) Upgrade Time (h-hours, d-days) Instant (Gems)
    1 1 4 N/A N/A N/A
    2 4 6 8 8h 119

    4 9 10 32 1d 8h 339
    5 11 12 64 2d 16h 572

Ability 2: Ice Shields: The second ability you unlock is a defensive ability that gives each of your troops within Dr. Kavan’s radius a shield. This shield has a health bar and a timer so it will break overtime as well as if it gets attacked too much by a defensive structure or your own attacks.

Level Hero Level Needed Shield Duration (s-seconds) Shield Hitpoints Upgrade Cost (Hero Tokens) Upgrade Time (h-hours, d-days) Instant (Gems)

    5 16 10.0s 460 64 2d 16h 572

Ability 3 Second Wind: The final ability Dr. Kavan has is Second Wind which lets you revive fallen troops from the battlefield. These troops will have a purple aura around them however, they will act just like regular troops except for when you retreat in which case they won’t. This can be used if you want to put out a lot of extra Riflemen really quickly or you can use it later on to revive a bigger troop such as a Tank. If you happen to revive a troop ,but there is left over troop capacity Riflemen will spawn along with the other troop.

Battle Tips1. Always drop down Dr. Kavan after you have placed the troops you plan to use for your current battle.
Failure to do so will cause him to be in front and a prime target for your opponent's defensive structures.
    2. Choose troops with a similar range.
This will allow Dr. Kavan to always be behind your troops and out of harm's way. It is fine to mix ranges ,but it isn’t recommended to have one boat of Short or Melee troops and the rest be Long ranged as
    3. Dr. Kavan will be sniped after the shorter range troops die.Keep your troops together.
There is only one thing worse than Dr. Kavan dying after healing and that is Dr. Kavan not healing at all! Much like Medics and Crystal Critters if you split up your troops and both sides get attacked Dr. Kavan will be walking around in the middle clueless of what to do making him completely unless you are using the Second Wind ability so he can revive troops in the middle of your two armies.

I will continue to update this analysis if Dr. Kavan changes or his abilities change. I will also keep adding to the Battle Tips section as we learn more about how this hero works.

Thank you so much! Although a moderator did recognize it before you. If you have any suggestions to improve the analysis please let me know so I can make it better for a future analysis.

A link to this guide should be included within the sticky thead https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...ltimate-Guides (it already contains a link to the Sgt. Brick Guide).

In this guide, it should be mentioned that Kavan, unlike the other two heroes, uses Medic movement logic. In particular, he does not respond to flares, nor does he go to some target. Rather, he follows troops. If he is alone (no other troops deployed) and a flare is dropped, he will simply stand still.

    Nice guide!

Thank you for this piece of information as well! I use Dr. Kavan the most from the heroes so I knew about this ,but never thought about adding it in for some reason. I appreciate your help on this guide as well!
