Dove - no, I don't expect to get them all straight away, but we aren't getting any more on boats after the initial 2, I've not got a single piece through any other method in 3 days. There's an event on, I've completed that & not a single Permit or Puzzle Piece. I can't actually play in any way to up my chances of getting either. It's PASSIVE, not ACTIVE. Also, as a solo Derby player I'm being hit again as I'll only get one piece in the Derby despite doing 10x320 tasks.

I've Mastered everything. Mastering machines was great because you could work at it. Active play.

I've completed all the Achievements. I completed the Helpful Neighbour one by actively setting up a wheat trading partnership and we requested & donated twice a day, pretty much every day. Tedious, but it at least had an element of active play.

It's great that you are a very laid back Farmer , but for many of us it's a Resource Management game & adding things in that you can't actively manage & just have to wait around for doesn't enhance our game any. Like your friend, we enjoy achieving things & want new things to achieve, we don't want to just wait around for things to happen. There's really no crime in playing to maximise our achievement & to want more to achieve afterwards.
If you don't mind me asking, why are you a solo player? Being in a good hood is very rewarding. You make friends, farm and laugh everyday and derby gives you more rewards bc more points to open Horshoes. People help each other. I don't know.. it's just great. When I started playing, a long time ago... when HD was in b&w 😂, there was no town, no chat, no hoods. It was very lonely. I do love a hood. You just need to make sure you find the right one, one to call home. 💜

I don't mind you asking, but you seem to be assuming quite a lot, like I've never been in other NH's & that what one person enjoys, everyone will enjoy.

It's great that you find it rewarding I didn't, I found it massively frustrating.

Yes, you make friends - the friends I made are still my friends, we chat via KIK or just water each other's plants etc. I have lots of forum friends that I chat to here, in PM's & via KIK. I don't like the in game chat going off all the time & demanding my attention. I have made many more friends through the forum & through trading than by being in NH's.

I laugh everyday. I don't need an NH to laugh.

I farm everyday. I don't need an NH to farm.

I flag crates & bushes. Other than that I don't need, or want, help. If I did, I'd ask my friends.

'It's just great' - for you. Not me.

I don't want the constant chat. I don't want the drama. I don't want the 'second guessing' & trying to share out Derby tasks. I don't want to co ordinate other people. I've been there, I've done that & I don't want to do it again. I just want to play my own game as it suits me.

I HAVE found the right one, for me, to call home . My NH.

I just want SC to stop adding more & more things that disadvantage solo or small NH's. It's unfair that solo players doing 10x320 Derby tasks don't get the same Horseshoe rewards as a player who might only be doing 9x 275 tasks, simply because they want to be in a chatty NH & we don't. There are a couple of threads about it if you're interested in seeing it from our POV.

I'm fortunate that it's not my situation, but there are a lot of people who chose to play solo because of anxiety or other MH issues that mean playing in an NH just isn't possible for them. They shouldn't be disadvantaged. They're working just as hard to get their tasks done.
Very sad to be losing our much loved forum ~ and many friends

I also wish the hippo had some interaction with water since they spend a huge amount of their lives tootling around on the bottom of rivers. Rather than a dry, baked area for the animals, couldn't there have been a big pool in the middle that they (especially the elephants and hippos) walked into? As far as I'm concerned, my hippo could sit in the pool all day coming up, wiggling its ears and opening its mouth. I feel sorry for it on dry land. I tried putting its "home" near the river since someone posted that it would sleep in the river. I was thrilled when it did that--once. Since then it has slept in different spots on the land. ...
Here's a pic of Godot In Repose a la Rivičre Thanks MG for letting me post it

The sanctuary animals appear to have zero pet points, so they aren't going to give drops when you wake them, I think.

Other than XP, I have not seen any 'gifts' from the sanctuary animals.

The one thing I did notice in the release notes that has me wondering, is it claims the more animals you have the better the gifts you will receive from town visitors. I hope this holds true. Although, I can only wonder what the 'better' gifts will be. So far I have seen town building upgrade items, axes/saws, and coins.

I imagine a full sanctuary is quite a bit away, but still has me wondering.

That's very interesting. So far, I found the gifts from the townies who went to look at my hippo a bit underwhelming. Lots of coins, saws, TEMS and once a tape. Maybe the system is programmed to increase the worth of the gifts in proportion to the number of animals in the sanctuary? Like the prizes in the Derby prize columns? So, once you have all animals, you get mostly BEMs?

Only, at the present frequency of puzzle pieces, I will have maxed aut my barn before I have a second animal in my sanctuary....

Yeah, the funniest gift was 388 coins. Um ... okay, thanks lol. I'll try not to spend it all in one place.
