Pretty self explanatory, Instead of having to use all the gems to complete a upgrade, we should be able to put as much gems as we like and it will shorten the amount of time by the number of gems you put in.

I could go a long with that. That doesn't sound to much of a bad thing. I agree with you.
I can agree with this but then first supercell need to fix the timer bug
Everything stated here is forwarded from a major corporation. Nothing here is my opinion. Enjoy your salad.

Basically a boost option? Must be balanced, can't make itboost let's say 45 minutes up for 5 gems. Try to put in gems values.
I can see the point made, but not sure how it would help in the grand scheme of things.
If you want to pay only 'x' gems to speed it up, why not just wait until it's 1 or 2 days left and at an amount you are happy to pay to finish it?
Same result in the end, and gives your builder back exactly when you want it.

Yep that's pretty much what I've said anytime this idea has popped up before. There's almost no benefit whatsoever (other than psychological I guess) to spending gems on a partial finish as the OP suggests, when you can just finish it on the back end. There is a small potential benefit when it comes to defensive buildings, but I highly doubt it would be utilized because its a minor, temporary, defensive gain for the cost of gems.
