The higher you go, the harder it becomes to make gains without buying shields.

How high do you think you can "easily" push without buying shields?

It's not nearly as simple as that.

What if your shield runs out while you're sleeping?

You also can't attack "several times" when it takes 5 hours to find a match.

Not a clue because I've never bought a shield. What I do know is I'm at 5,400 without any purchased shields. So, again, what he said is not wrong.

I think we are talking about different stages in legends. I think you mean 5500+ and yes its tougher but I said it's easy to stay in legends in general meaning just keeping the badge

There is a stark difference between 5400 and 5700 and 6000.

You still didn't even answer the question.

How high do you think you could "easily" get without buying shields?

I'm arguing the point which MileGod stated that you could "easily" stay in Legend without spending money. That is undeniably true. He didn't place any kind of limit on trophies.

To answer your question, I don't know for a couple reasons. One, I will not buy a shield. I think it's dumb. Two, I've never felt the need to see my name in the #1 spot and truly "pushed" for trophies. If you just really want me to guess, I'd say somewhere around 5500-5600 trophies. That's only going off of knowing what I get offered for a 3 star vs what is taken from me when I get 1 or 2 starred.

and youre a max th11, its very different for us th10s in legends, and even more so for the ones having a truly difficult time pushing as th9s and lower. theres a few, and this REALLY hurts them.

Actually guessing the right point is not important. All I wanted was an acknowledgement that there is a point at which it becomes par for the course to buy shields.

The person he responded to was obviously referring to those more ambitious players who are actually pushing. So I really don't see how ones ability to just "sit" in legends without buying shields is relevant at all.

One of the difficulties of answering the question is the word "easily" as we all have different definitions of that word. I find that whether I buy shields or not makes almost no difference up to 5800. It makes a small difference above 5800. It can make a big difference (big meaning 50 or so cups) the last few days. One thing shield buyers mistakenly think is that they have saved themselves -20 or whatever by avoiding a defense. That is only true in the last day or two. A -20 or -30 or whatever it is earlier in the season does not equate to -20 or -30 at season end. You cannot look at your total at the end of the season, let's say 5800, and say you would have been 5830 if not for that big -30 loss 2 weeks ago. The reason is because dropping your own trophies is partially countered by you finding faster matches and by you being offered more cups on your next attacks and offering up less cups on defense. So, that -30 doesn't equal -30 on your season ending total (again, unless it is in the last day or two).

The biggest difference between 5800 and those at the top of the leaderboards is account sharing resulting in 24/7 playing. There also is a skill factor. There also is some team work among pushing clans. Without the ability to purchase the week long shields, shield purchases play only a very small role.

    Why was the season extended?
Sorry if this has been answered already
    But what was the point?

My spend rate has gone down by an order of magnitude (literally) because SC isn't reliable. Arbitrary extension of season without warning or explanation reinforces my thinking. There's a good chance the 14k gems I got at the beginning of the year will last the whole year.

    Smh.

    You're killing the goose SC.
