The 2.2.1 trophy base doesn't hold up so good, I get already got like 5 losses or so, but yeah.

I'm assuming you're referring to one of the TH8 designs. At this stage of the game with TH10's prominently hunting, defensive wins while pushing as a TH8 are extremely rare. With that said, post a screenshot of your current base/trophy range. I might be able to give you some pointers.

What trophy range you are at?

It really works for 2000-2300, even if you are very early TH8.

I love these base designs, Professional to the Max
